First Editions

This question is as much about bibliography as it is about Star Wars, but y'all have always been kind in offering advice in the past so I am coming to the well again.

I am thinking of buying some nice first editions of some star wars books: particularly the move novilizations and maybe the first editions of the Daley Han Solo trilogy. I would like hardcovers, but I know some of the first edtions of some of the books are paperback only. Does anyone have a list of which books (at least out of the one's I'm interested in) are hardcover firsts, and which are PBs? Has anyone ever done adecent bibliography of Star Wars first editions? Or am I just reaching here?

I didn't see the original Star Wars novel in the list. I have a first edition of the paperback, though it isn't in mint condition as it was on the bookshelf for years before I realized what I had. However, here is the info on the HC and PB:

1st PB - Ballantine #26061-9, Dec 1976 Ralph McQuarrie cover. The copyright page has First Edition: December 1976 at the bottom of the page.

1st HC - the trade hardcover is very scarce. It had a gold dust jacket with Hardbound Ballantine Books Edition: October 1977/First Edition: December 1976 in two lines on the copyright page. It was Del-Rey #27476-8.

(All info from A Universe of Star Wars Collectibles 2nd edition (2002).

Edit - I just saw that the PB is in the list up top, however the hardcover isn't.

 

Eddie1969, my question is about the original 10 Del Rey novels, meaning the movie novelizations, Han Solo books by Brian Daley, the Lando books and "Splinter." I am aware of the paperbacks, sci-fi bookclub hardcovers and the original hardcover (gold cover) for ANH. Are there other hardcover versions for these from that time beyond the sci-fi bookclub versions? If so, what are the ISBN"s for them? Thanks.

And MF11, I would not know this as I have only listed 1st editions of the stories (so no first edition HC of books which first appeared in paperback)...

 

Cooper would be pleased. He seems to like long posts, for reasons I cannot evisage.

 

Quick follow up question, guys: Was there a first edition of the hardcover Splinter of the Mind's Eye that was seperate and different from the Book Club Edition? On ABEbooks some sellers claim there is a 'true' first hardcover edition and then a BC hardcover. Can anyone confirm this?

According to A Universe of Star Wars Collectibles there was. It was out in Feb 1978 with a Ralph McQuarrie cover. It was Del Rey # 27566-7.
