    Title: Forever Yours
    Genre: Angst/romance
Rating: PG-13 to be safe. Some
    Pairing: Jocasta/Yan
    Era: Before
Summary: The love between them was one never mean?t to last their mortal lives.

Authors notes: I blame Charmisjess entirely. It was while reading Scorch that this miniplot-bunny hit me. I'm now a Jocasta/Dooku shipper. Anyway, this is sad as all get out, and the last part about her heart made me cringe. Gory images from a few vague words. Ack. Well, enjoy

Jocasta hummed to herself softly, the last of her filing done for the day. Gently, she dusted off her silver tabards and stepped out of her beloved archives. The halls that she usually walked through were emptier and quieter than she?d known them in the days when the likes of Obi-wan Kenobi and Bant Eerin were just children tagging along beside their Masters.
A stab of melancholy hit the aging Historian as she thought of Qui-gon Jinn and Tahl Ambrel, both long dead. Silently, Jocasta prayed to the Force that the two of them were free to be together in the great expanse of the Force as they?d only briefly known in life.
They were not alone, those two, in their breach of the Code. Thinking on Qui-gon brought memories of the man?s Master, Yan Dooku. A man who she could clearly remember as he leaned in to kiss her. It had begun when Qui-gon was 9, a year after Yan had become a Master with a Padawan, a time that seemed an eternity for the silver-haired Jedi.

/// ?Yan!? A younger Dooku turned around quickly to catch an armful of smiling Jocasta with a short chuckle. Immediately, he planted a kiss on her lips as he swung her around in a wide arc. They were alone in one of the lesser-known gardens of the Temple, and were easily able to spend time together without fear of discovery.
? Hello, Jo.? He said softly, the aristocratic tone of his voice almost a purr as she stood on the tips of her toes to give him a deeper kiss. He laughed into the kiss, eyes sparkling with mirth, though his facial expression did not change.
Jocasta snuggled into his travel-cloak and smiled. She loved being in the garden with him, the one dedicated to Nomi Sunrider with all the Sunflowers and Lavender growing in abundance. Yan sank to the grass and pulled her with him.
Together, they lay under the bright sunlight of the sky above, and simply basked in the beauty of the Living Force.///

A sigh escaped her as she passed the Room of a Thousand Fountains. It had lasted for years on end, and she?d been utterly grateful they were never discovered. But then Qui-gon had been Knighted, and not even his love for her or his beloved Padawan could of kept him in the Temple. He?s left, taken up his family?s holdings on Serrano, and been done with them all for a good while.
Eventually Qui-gon had visited his old Master. And one day, Jocasta had received an invitation to spend her Sabbatical in Serrano. She could remember what she?d worn, the colors of the spaceport and market, and the garden filled with Sunflowers and Lavender Yan had shown her, the one he?d made especially for her trip.

///?Oh?.? She lost her voice staring at the large flowers and vines that grew up the walls and out of sight in the large central garden of the Dooku Estate.
?Do you like it, Jo?? he asked in that soft, cultured voice. She could only nod in return, her eyes misting with the almost-forgotten love they?d shared years.
He pulled her close so that her back was up against his chest, his head laying on her left shoulder as they watched the sun set out the bay window in the garden?s back wall.
? I still love you.? She turned her head to him and smiled.
? I was foolish to think you?d leave me. Forgive me?? He smiled, trailing kisses down her neck.
    ? Of course, love.?///

A blush crept over the older Jocasta?s face at the remembrance of her month with him. It had been too short for her liking, but she?d always returned when her yearly sabbatical came around. Until the day she?d arrived to f

    Oh, my, how heartrending.

This started so sweet and melancholy, then bam!

    Wonderful job.

Ooooooh. I love this! The end was just so perfect and sad! You did a really great job with these two...ah, favorites! I loved that Dooku kissed her while laughing. Of course, he would only be laughing when doing something as serious as kissing someone! ;) But I love the intimacy between them here.

You're right, the end bit just tore me up. I've never read Jocasta's death before as written in prose (I think it read it on Wiki or something) but you did a brutal, heartbreaking job of it.

    Lovely work, keep it up!!

----and it is *so* not my fault! [face_laugh] [face_batting]

    Valairy_Scot: Thanks!!!

    Jess:
I think I read her death too. Probably was Wiki. I hope you caught the description of a merciful death....I was going for the hint that Anakin was still partly Anakin then, and not totally Vader. He was too evil by then to stop the killing...but he did like old Madam Nu.
I'm so hooked on this couple now...

If you play the Ep III video game it shows Anakin using the Force to raise Jo off the ground and brings her to him and impales her upon his blade... :_| What a way to go :( She was not going to let him into the Archives/destroy it.

Anakin is juz lucky that Dooku was already dead cuz he would have gotten regal on that pup's behind!

    As for Dooku/Jo shipper O:) [face_whistling] Hehehe

Excellent work! Poor Jo :( One has to feel for her...I believe she got a crabby cuz Dooku left. [face_laugh] And I'll stick to that ;)

Ah, you give Anakin more grace than I afford for him. ;) I did catch that though, the sort of hope at the end. The smell of lavender. :)

*laughing* another Dook/Jo shipper! I don't know if I'm one officially, my fic wasn't very shippy, but that's awesome. Dook/Jo shippers are some of the best people in the world, I've found. :D

    That was amazing!

I love the sense of nostalgia, the juxtaposition of their happy past and painful present. The bitter and the sweet. In many ways, I think Dooku and Jocasta's relationship is even more tragic than Anakin and Padme's.

In her crabby librarian state, Jocasta is definately one of those people I can imagine annoying padawans with tales how everything was better in the "good old days". Only in her case they really were better.

Wow and oh my, that was fantastic.

Seeing decades through her eyes and the changes she'd seen. That ending, sad as it may have been was breathtaking though.
