I have a slight problem with some 24p footage. I was helping someone shoot a project, he was using a dvx100, shooting in 24p. He is having me edit the footage, so I set a dv 24p project, and inserted the tape into my little canon 2r500 60i camera for capture. I didn't think that this should cause problems, but the footage is captured interlaced and at 29.97, or 60i. I thought that since the data on the tape is 24p, that the camera used for capture shouldn't be a problem. What do you guys think?

The data is not 24p native. The data the DVX100 records is 24p with a 3:2 pulldown, making it 60i for compatibility with NTSC standards.

So in that sense you're correct, the method you use for capturing is irrelevant. But you will need to use some kind of reverse pulldown in order to get the discrete 24p frames in a 24p stream.
