Almost 40 years have gone by since the release of Star Wars, and the actor behind BoShek has remained a mystery. They've found bits and pieces over the years, though. The same man was seen as a Stormtrooper in behind the scenes footage, as well as an extra in The New Avengers. There was't much beyond that. Though one fan didn't quit, and the actor's surviving family came forth to fill in the blanks. Here's the original story: http://billyjensen.com/finding-boshek/ And here's Frances Alfred Basil Tomlin, the man behind BoShek: He sadly passed away 11 years ago, but at least his family says that he was aware of his role in one of the most important films of the 20th century. He was not aware, however, of his awesome action figure: Anyways, this is a great story in that we were able to check off identifying one more missing actor from the scene. The internet has sadly thrown around a lot of misinformation in regard to who played the character, so it's good to have that settled. The Tomlin's family only wants Basil to be remembered and properly credited; hopefully that's about to change with Bill Jensen's article.
Sideburns They made him one of those background characters in the foreground that just sticks with you
And probably one of the "Corellian pirates" Ben Kenobi identified upon entering the Cantina in the ANH novelization.
I always wondered why he wore a flight suit whereas no other space traveler did. Unless you count the Duros or Bossk.
I always wondered why one / some of his buddies (?) wore space helmets in the Cantina (frame # 40): http://starwarsscreencaps.com/star-wars-episode-iv-a-new-hope-1977/30/ Fear of contamination with an alien virus? In the case of "BoShek" I'd speculate that he only had a small vessel that possibly wasn't constantly pressurized, hence the space / flight suit.
