Solo From Corellia to Kessel: The Plot of Solo: A Star Wars Story

So now that we have the final trailer let's see if we can try and piece the film together as best we can. I'll start:

Prologue
- Chewie is captured on Kashyyyk.

Corellia
- Han is roughed up by some local gangsters.
- He and Qi'ra steal one of their speeders.
- Chase scene ends with Han being arrested by Imperials.
- Han signs up to avoid prison.

Mimban
- Han arrives on Mimban where the Imperial garrison is fighting against the local population.
- Han meets who he thinks is a superior officer but is actually Beckett in disguise.
- He and Val are there to steal something.
- Chewie and other slaves attempt to escape but are subdued by the Imperials.
- Chewie is about to be executed when Han tries to stop it.
- To keep his cover Beckett reluctantly orders Han and Chewie shackled and taken back to base.
- Han and Chewie are sent to the spice mines of Kessel.

Kessel
- Together Han and Chewie survive the horrors of Kessel and plan their escape.
- Han and Chewie escape Kessel.

Vandor
- Han has spent a few years tracking down Beckett who he still thinks is an Imperial officer to exact his revenge.
- He runs into Qi'ra in Dryden Vos' hangout.
- Han sees Beckett talking to Vos and attempts to shoot him. A fight breaks out and Qi'ra tries to help Han.
- Dryden orders his men to kill both Han and Qi'ra but Beckett stops him.
- After being thrown out of Vos' hangout Qi'ra reveals that Beckett knew Han was looking for him and that she's a part of his crew.
- Beckett recruits Han to help him with the train heist.
- Han and Chewie follow Qi'ra to a local bar to find someone with a ship.
- They meet Lando but Lando doesn't want to take the risk so declines their offer.
- Han challenges him to a game of Sabacc and wins thus winning Lando's cooperation.
- The train heist goes down. The train cars are filled with Imperial weaponry, explosives, etc.
- The Cloud Riders attack the crew just as they're making off with their score. Han gets away with one train car but the rest is taken by the pirates. Qi'ra is taken captive.
- The crew track the pirates back to their desert camp. Han witnesses Qi'ra meeting with Enfys Nest and realizes she hired them. He confronts her. She reveals that she works for a growing rebellion and the weapons are going to arm them.
- Han is about to duel Nest when Vos and his men show up and gun down the pirates. The weapons are already gone though. Han has a chance to blow Qi'ra's cover but decides not to.
- Even though most of the score was lost Vos is impressed with Han. The train heist was a test. The real job is on Kessel. The spice there is worth a fortune and Vos wants a part of it.

Kessel
- The crew infiltrate the spices mines of Kessel and make off with several containers full of the substance.
- They're pursued by Imperial forces as they try to escape the planet.
- Chewie takes over as co-pilot and together he and Han perform the Kessel Run in less than 12 parsecs.

Rendezvous planet
- The crew arrive to hand over the spice to Vos but instead find rebel blockade runners. Qi'ra has betrayed them again.
- Qi'ra goes out to meet them as Han leads the crew out of the Falcon at gunpoint. Qi'ra thinks Han is with her but he turns his blaster on her instead. A gun fight breaks out. L3 is killed during the battle.
-The rebels and Qi'ra are eventually forced to flee.
- Finally believing they can trust Han Beckett and Val turn their backs on him as they start loading the cargo back on the Falcon. Han then turns his gun back on them and stuns Val.
- Han reveals he was never working for Beckett or Vos. He was working for himself and has a different buyer in mind.
- Beckett reaches for his blaster but Han is quicker and shoots him dead.
- Han and Chewie load the cargo back on the Falcon and leave with Lando.

Tatooine
- Han, Lando and Chewie bring the spice to Jabba the Hutt.
- Jabba hires them as smugglers.
- Lando tells Han he thinks he cheated when he beat him in Sabacc and wants a rematch.
- They sit down to have the famous game of Sabacc that will win Han the Falcon.

The End.

Okay I went into a little more detail than necessary but that's my best guess sure to be wrong.

 

Interesting deductions, and very dark! I wouldn't be surprised if much of it turns out to be correct, it has that "The Good The Bad and the Ugly" feel to it which seems to be what they're going for. Personally, I suspect that Qi'ra will get killed, although I hope I'm wrong. I agree that it will have a psuedo-episodic structure and cover several years of Han's early life.

 

I sure hope some of your speculation turns out to be true.
I would love to see that Kashyyyk prologue, specially if we see some Trandoshans capturing Wookiees.
And that epilogue with Jabba!

 

Sounds cool but I don’t believe Han betraying and killing Beckett like that. A bit dark.

Also, there’s a shot in the trailer of Han talking to Beckett (?) and tells him he’s a driver and a flyer. Sounds like he’s maybe already hiring Han.

 

The trailer is perfect. The movie poster is perfect. Your plot is perfect - lets hope its something VERY similar, which it looks like it will be.

Oh, and your avatar is perfect too! Cant wait to see her as The Doctor.

 

Best list of expectations for the film I've seen yet.

 

Yeah, I figure that could just be Han smarting off to who he thinks is a superior officer. Basically "I don't dig through this muck. I can fly or drive. Let me do one of those." or something like that.

But I'm probably 99.99999999% wrong on everything I said. That's part of the fun!

Right after Becket gives Han his pistol Beckett's going to be all, "oh yeah almost forgot. Put this on too" and will throw a vest at Han.

 

In all honesty I wish they could save some for the next 2 movies of the "Han & Lando & Chewie early adventures" like winning the Falcon (episode 2), the Kessel Run and loosing Jabba's cargo (episode 3)

Just to add weight to Han's "I've seen a lot of strange stuff" and Lando's "Seeing you sure brings back a few things".

BTW I hope that "The Maw" gets canon. I'd love to see a Disney crossover between Star Wars and The Black Hole.

beckett/han go to glamour world to see dryden vos also see qi'ra after long years. vos office/knife fight.

meet up on vandor/snow planet. gang hatches plan needs ship. meet up with lando at bar in the mountains.

han wins falcon/transport on falcon

train heist. cloud riders showup. empire shows up. cargo transported to hauler where han blows up cloud riders.

gang on falcon head to kessel. rescue wookiees/blow stuff up. escape planet

star destroyer arrives. kessell run. cthulhu monster.

lando and others dropped off?

han, chewie, beckett, qi'ra arrive at sandy planet. divide spoils. qi'ra sweet talks han inside.

han goes outside to see cloud riders and they kill beckett. qi'ra betrayed them to cloud riders/dryden vos/empire.

han kills them cowboy style with chewie. kills qi'ra/she dies.

chewie comforts han by the ocean.

the end.

 

I cant be that precise but i think we can safely assume that the order of locations is Corellia, Mimban, Vandor then Kessel. Dont know about the sand/beach world of the cloud-riders, is it on Vandor (would be strange)? Or another planet?

SOLO A STAR WARS STORY in 5 Minutes! in the social thread.

 

The thing that's puzzling me at the moment is that shot of Chewie and the other Wookie. The other Wookie does not look as clean as Chewie and they are by the Falcon but Chewie does not have his bandolier on. It seems to me, although I'm not 100% sold on the idea, that they go (back?) to Kessel and end up freeing some of the prisoners.

 

We know from the other movies that Chewie likes to guilt Han into doing the right thing sometimes, so maybe that could be one of the first examples of that.

 

Okay, let me give this a shot.

Movie opens on Corellia, show Han and Qi'ra as street kids. They're in a speeder chase, they crash and split up to escape easier. Qi'ra takes the golden dice and gets away. Han is caught.

Han is thrown into jail, gets to decide between serving the Empire or spending the rest of his life in jail. He chooses the former. Time skip.

Han is a mudtrooper on Mimban. Tries to free Chewie, ends up chained up too after being caught. He meets Beckett and Val who are there to steal the AT-ST hauler ship for the train heist. Han helps them since "I'm a driver, and I'm a flyer."

They escape to Vandor. Beckett tells him about the heist. They meet Dryden. Han catches up with Qi'ra who gives him the dice back.

Train heist.

They go back to meet with Dryden. He betrays them, gives them no payment and sends the Cloud-Riders to kill them. They fight their way out of his lair and Han faces off with Enfys on the beach.

Han, Beckett, Qi'ra, Val and monkey man hatch a plan to get back at Dryden. Beckett knows that Dryden owns the spice mines of Kessel. They decide to rob it. And they need a fast ship to do that.

They meet Lando. Han plays him in sabacc and if he wins, Lando will help them. The game goes on for quite a while. Han not only wins Lando's help but the Falcon too.

They do the Kessel heist, face off with Dryden, and do the Kessel Run. Something happens after that, Qi'ra probably betrays him and kills Beckett. Movie ends with the remains of the crew going their separate ways, Han and Chewie fly off in the Falcon, roll credits.

 

That sounds about right, but it's disappointing Lando doesn't even show up until the final third of the film. From the promo material I expect Donald Glover to steal the show.

 

Expanded from a different thread, here are my thoughts.

Han starts off with Q’ira on Corellia, running from the law. She gets away, and he ends up in jail.

Jump a few years.

The Empire needs more grunts to pacify the mud planet natives, and so Han is forced into Imperial service after a few years in Corellian prison. He wants to be a pilot, but they stick him in the Mimban infantry. Han bucks authority (perhaps refusing to discipline Chewie), and Han ends up in a chain gang with Chewie. Occasionally, they are given AT hauler duties (or are transported in AT haulers as prisoners). That’s when Han asks Chewbacca his name.

Jump a few years.

Han and Chewie have gotten to know each other well during their Mimban imprisonment. Han understands the Shyriwook (sp?) language well now. Two undercover criminals, Beckett and Val, infiltrate the Mimban infantry in order to steal an AT hauler for a job (the train-car heist). Han and Chewie happen to be on the AT hauler they are trying to steal. This happy coincidence gets Han and Chewie off Mimban, and into Beckett and Val’s debt.

Beckett convinces Han to join him on the train heist job, and Han agrees. But they’ve gotta meet Vos and get his approval. At Vos’s den, Han meets up with older Q’ira, who’s now one of Vos’s people. Q’ira vouches for Han, despite Vos’s skepticism. She also joins the heist team. Chewie is skeptical of the whole thing, but agrees to go on the condition that they go to Kessel afterwards to free his people. The crew agrees, perhaps as Chewie promises a reward (or threatens to pull their arms off).

Beckett needs a fast ship as a getaway car for the train heist, and Q’ira knows just the guy. They recruit Lando and L337, though at some point, Han wins the Falcon from Lando.

The crew pulls off the train heist, but the Empire and the Cloud Riders foul it up. Beckett is killed. They fail to get the train car loot to Vos, who gets angry and does villainous stuff to recoup his losses.

The crew evade Vos and the Cloud Riders, and launch the Kessel operation. They free the enslaved Wookiees, and complete the Kessel Run. At some point, Q’ira betrays Han. And Lando does something untrustworthy.

A cynical Han, and a loyal Chewie, jet off to new adventures.

 

I'm wondering what the McGuffin is.
The thing that they are heisting, that the Troopers are defending and Enfys Nest swoops in on the train to complicate matters and grab for herself.

It probably starts as some artifact that Dryden Voss claims he wants for his Collection. Claiming it to be rare, but trivial. An easy job. But it's something more important than people realise... something of a Force nature? Something Enfys wants to enhance herself.

 

It's definitely the green bread.



Seems mundane, but its midichlorian-rich yeast gives you a serious force boost.

 

I would guess they are transporting coaxium on the train. It seems to be a high energy material, a superfuel.

 

Beckett has blast marks on his armor, suggesting that they killed the actual soldiers and are just in disguise. I’m thinking that they go there to steal the AT-hauler but somehow lose their pilot. Beckett takes Han to the side and asks if he wants a promotion. Han goes “Listen, I’m a driver, and I’m a flyer. I don’t belong in the trenches.” He tells him that he’s not an actual imperial and offers him a way out of Mimban if he helps them steal the hauler. He agrees.
