    FROM THE SCREENSAVERS, ON TECHTV

    Free Animation Education (Excerpt)

    By Roman Loyola

    No tuition necessary

"I want to be a computer animator ... trouble is I have no skills. I need training, and that means I also need serious cash, because education ain't cheap.

However, thanks to 3D Buzz, education is not only cheap, it's free.

3D Buzz offers free training for wannabe 3D animators and digital artists. The tutorials are available for download from the 3D Buzz website, or you can have CD-ROM tutorials mailed to you.

Because they don't have a copy of lightwave -- this has been a problem since day one.

Probably just a matter of not having them. I'm sure if you can get Nutley & Nutley to write send a few tutorials their way, they would probably post them.

They used Lightwave on DARK SKIES, didn't they?

They have lightwave tuts in the tut section, but no busby video tuts. The video tuts are made after the 3dbuzz crew spends a few weeks/whatever with them, so they can explain it in plain english, whereas the tuts in the tut section are made by fans and you've probably seen them on other sites like 3dcafe.com or whatever.

Dark Skies used Strata I think. Definately didn't use Lightwave.

I'm actually using some of those tutorials to learn Kaydara's Motionbuilder. I like how everything is in laymans terms, but I just get sick of hearing these guys say "sweet!" and "awesome" every two minutes!

Actually, I am getting tired of these guys laughing and cutting up so much. It is cool they are having a good time and all, but when I watch them at work, I have to monitor the volume constantly cause it peaks when they are all laughing. I guess we can't complain cause they are free and all, but boy is it irritating sometimes!
