Do you put your blueberries, or chocolate chips, in the batter? Or do you save all the fruit and nuts for the topping?
I definitely prefer things like chocolate chips and blueberries in my batter. The chocolate chips in particular get nice and melty. Banana also makes a great batter flavor.
So, I usually don’t put much right into my batter—I usually like a pretty basic batter with toppings added to complement it later—but I have heard that banana can be a good addition and have been wanting to try it sometime. And I could see chocolate chips being good! :F
With blueberries, I always try to rinse them before putting them in the batter. It helps them clump and sink to the batter less. That is the main thing. Trying to ensure the even distribution of the blueberries throughout the batter. Similar to making blueberry muffins or something. With bananas, I usually mash them up with a fork before adding to the batter. They are a really easy and tasty addition to my pancakes. Chocolate chips are very good in pancakes. The chocolate chips get so delightfully melted.

Hey… I’m on the first page! This is new for me. I never get to be on the first page. Now, about the thread topic. Here is my answer: Sometimes if I have plain pancake batter and I am too lazy to just go to the shops and just buy choc chip pancake batter, I always grab my chocolate chips, chuck it all into the batter carton, shake the batter around (with glad wrap over it so I don’t make a mess) and begin cooking my chocolate chip pancakes!
I'm partial to chocolate chips in the pancake batter. I hardly ever do it on my own, but my gf knows I like it, so she always makes them that way for me. Also, how have I never noticed this section of the forum until now?
