Hey, I'm trying to hunt down as many of these items for a blind friend. I know the NPR shows are available and the Dark Forces shows are available on CD. These are great, by the way, if you loved the original radio shows. I see that Dark Empire II was made into a full cast audio drama. Was Dark Empire I? Crimson Empire is available, is CEII? I know High Bridge Audio did these without them being NPR shows but I think they are just as good.

Were there any other radio-style dramas produced? Ever? I was surprised to find out about this many and thrilled to think there may be more I can hunt down online or somewhere. Any thoughts? Thanks!

    Let's see..

NPR Radio Dramas of Episodes 4, 5, 6.
    Tales of the Jedi
Dark Empire, Dark Empire II, Empire's End.
    Crimson Empire, Crimson Empire II.
    All 3 Kyle Katyrn novels.

Those are the ones I know off the top of my head. Probably your best bet is to get them used off http://www.half.com since most of them are out of print now.

I still need the latter three that D_K mentioned. Other than that, my audio drama collection is complete.

The only one I'm missing from this list is "Colors and Shapes", but I think I can live without it :)

Do any of the books come in braile? That would be interesting.

BenMacky - another option is the books on tape/cd. A lot of the Star Wars books are on tape or CD, though usually abridged, still better than nothing.

Most of the Star Wars books on tape are abridged, but there are a few that are unabridged too, and I would recommend getting those first.

Colors and shapes was pretty funny original story actually, if you like the droids comics at all, you'll probably enjoy colors and shapes.

Yeah, I've looked for it, but I only ever seem to find the LP version, and I don't happen to have a turntable, so I would need the cassette version.

You could always go down to the local Goodwill and pick up a record player. I think that sounds right. Ancient technology and I don't mix. :D *shrug*

Does anyone know who played Carnor Jax in the CE audibooks? He was great. Made the character as a whole cooler. Love the way he says "Not...exactly."

I really don't want an LP player just for that. I'll just keep my eye out for the cassette version.

Hey everyone! Thanks so much for replying. I have returned from Thanksgiving and found so many great leads thanks to you. What a really great community this is.

I got the Dark Forces CDs and found Crimosn Empire and We Don't Do Weddings on CD b just hunting online at a few sites. The rest are a whole lot harder to some across. The Tales of the Jedi recordings are pretty expensive as is the DE Collection. That's one I'll have to save for. I heard a bit of the DE ones once and didn't think they matched the quality opf the NPR shows or the DF ones. Anyone know if the Tales ones are any good?

I really liked Crimson Empire and look forward to hearing the show. Too bad I know how it goes already. There doesn't seem to be any listing anywhere for CE II as a drama.

As I said, I know this kid who is a great SW fan. He is 17 and lost his sight last year. When I present him with these shows for Christmas, it will men an awful lot to him. Thanks to all of you.

Of course, I won't mind hearing them either.

    >>The Tales of the Jedi recordings are pretty expensive<<

You should be able to still order those from amazon or something- I got TOTJ and DLOTS only a few months ago from them at their normal price.

    Hi there.
This may be considered slightly off topic, but since you're trying to find some entertaining full-cast audio dramas for your friend, might I suggest the BBC adaptation of The Lord of the Rings - it's 13 hours long, fast-paced and features a great cast.
Also, look into Big Finish Productions' all-new Doctor Who audios.

It's not off topic to give a recommendation. I appreciate it. I have heard some of the LOTR dramas and I think whoever wrote them did a very good job adapting them. That is truly a monster of a tale with so many characters which are hard to keep seperate and distinct in audio form. I think they did a pretty impressive job. Any other recommendations?

As far as SW books, I like the books on tape but have a hard time caring about many EU stories that don't refer directly to the films. Jedi order and the like are a tough sell on me, but I liked the Thrawn trilogy and Dark Empire series.

While it's not full-cast, I can reccomend Cloak of Deception... its quite a good adaptation and the narrator has does an uncanny impression of Palpatine.

CEII is not an audio drama, only CE1.

Mark, my family friend who is blind, has received a great deal of help from Reading for the Blind, and listens to a great many books on tape. That organization is amazing and gives help not only to blind people, but to dyslexics and invalids, as well as the infirm. There are so many people who benefit from this organization. If you are looking for a good charity, they are worthwhile to think about donating some money to this holiday season.

When you are 17, as he is, and still trying to get through school, you have to listen to books on tape for english class. However, the radio dramas seem more fun for him as a break from school-type work. They are like going to the movies for him.

That's why Star Wars is so fantastic a production. He remembers the films from seeing them, and the radio plays are like filling in the blanks and then some.

Audio books are great with a fantastic narrator, and they are a real art form, I think. Fascinating too.

Well, this is very kind of you! I'm sure that your friend will appreciate your gift(s)!

If you'd like, I can mail you a copy of Star Wars Adventures in Colors and Shapes. It's not nearly as long or exciting as the other dramas mentioned, but as Val said, it's a fairly amusing little story.

There's been a rumor floating around that the first Galaxy of Fear book has an audio drama adaptation, but I haven't been able to find anything more than a listing on Half.com. Unabridged audio books are available for the Jedi Quest series, though, if he's into the Young Adult books.

Was Colors & Shapes LP only, or was there a cassette version too?
