Galactic Symbology

I figure this thread could be used for discussion of all sorts of symbols in the GFFA.

I'd first like to discuss the symbols used by the Old Republic.

I was always under the impression that this was the symbol for the Republic and the 8-spoked Bendu was the emblem for the Republic's military.

If this is the case what is the emblem in the original picture?

(Sorry I couldn't include thumbnails of the latter three images, I don't think the boards like the .svg file type.)

 

The Galactic Great Seal.

 

The Rebel symbol is supposedly a phoenix or something.

The Imperial one, before retconned as the OR symbol, began its career as a gear that was also a starburst, as if to say even the stars obeyed the Empire.
