Hi there all. I thought we would post an ongoing thread of news of a small fan film we are making.

    Ghostbusters: Dark Matter

The trailer is in it's final stages -I am doing color corrections on it right now.

We aim to release the 1st trailer Sunday Jan 15th 2006.

As for the fan film itself -looks like I will have all the elements together to shoot the principal photography in Feb-Mar.

The title has a hyper link to the blog of the project.

Also here is the Groupsite : http://groups.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=groups.groupProfile&groupid=101881430&Mytoken=1041D109-FB65-13F1-6B4C14F02BAC22B813210856

We have pictures of the lead actress and also pictures of a full length film I directed that is now in post production.

We will be shooting GB:DM on on two JVC HD-1's. Didn't want to drag out the XL2's for this.

Using (a whole heck of alot) of post production digital effects, some stop animation and a wealth of Ghostbuster props that the community was kind enough to lend us.

Hope you will enjoy the trailer.

I will be happy to respond to questions or suggestions.

After this series of fan films (I am thinking maybe four or five of this storyline basically episodic) will be kicking around some ideas about doing a Star Wars fan film/series

    Sincerely,

    Lancelot Mallia

Yep, testing a new Idea for the proton beam pack. Since I am into realiism. We are hooking our lead actor up to a power transformer behind my house. Hopefully, we should get lots of sparks.

    Just kidding..

BTW does anyone know any wire work sites?

Would like to do some "Wire Fu" stuff for the film and am sort of making it up as I go, does anyone know of resources I can look at?

Just a note: the artwork and shots on your site look really good... but the site itself in terms of navigation are uber-bleh - and the myspace thing requires a sign-up. I'd like to see more, and look forward to the trailer... Hopefully you can find better hosting.

Yeah the myspace site wasnt really exactly the right site to post pics and such.

However , the blog is fun to do and it keeps me on track for working on the Ghostbusters fan film along with the regular film.

Not to sure how to set up a regular website, probably ought to.

The site says that the video is not available :(

I really want to see it too, since I'm a HUGE Ghosthead...

Thanks! Hopefully it will be back up soon, it's also over at ifilms too.

Funny thing is other than seeing the movie I wasnt a ghosthead or anything, though I really really consider it one of my top ten favorite comedies. It was Cliff that convinced me to direct it and do the FX. Hes the real Ghosthead, the authority on the technology, he gave me the yay or nay to the new gadgets I wanted to use in the film would fit the ghostbuster universe.

Cliff is the technical authority to the Ghostbuster Universe.

Had fun making the trailer though sort of made it up as I went along. The primary thing for me was the music.

Spent alot of time finding the right music 1st. Then when I did find the NIN remix I remixed it again with a J-Pop ghostbusters song to extend the begining.

Looking forward to shooting the film, want to do some wire work for some of the combat sequences. A bit of "Wire Fu".

Some of the ghosts I am doing in a combination of Maya and or 3d max.

Not trained or anything in all this, just self taught. Just love doing this :)

Been working on the proton streams and they are coming together nicely.

What's the song in the trailer? I like the sampling of the Ghostbusters theme but with rock lyrics over it. Where can I find that?

That is "The Ghost That Feeds" a NIN Remix by Nathan Chase...I remixed it slightly with a J-Pop Ghostbusters song to extend the beginning as I sculpted the trailer. Using the J Pop allowed me to keep the beat consistant.

Neat teaser.... The text kind of dragged on though, and it mught be better without Stay-Puft listed just to keep it a bit more brief.

I'll be keeping my eyes on this one though :)

Good point, thanks I was wondering where I ought to cut it back at.

Working up a 2nd trailer will use that :)
