Girls drugged teacher's coffee as prank

Two Alice Johnson Junior High School students in the Channelview district slipped Xanax, an anti-anxiety prescription drug, into a teacher's coffee cup as a prank, investigators said.

Harris County sheriff's Detective A.B. Beall said the 14-year-old girls apparently weren't planning to harm the teacher. "It was their idea of a prank, (but) an overdose of Xanax can cause a coma and death," Beall said.

The teacher got sick after drinking the coffee and was treated by paramedics and later by his personal physician, who weren't aware his drink had been laced with Xanax.

"The teacher has a medical condition and they thought it might be related to that," Beall said. "He didn't have any serious or lasting effects from this."

School officials became aware of the Dec. 10 incident the next day and reported it to authorities. Investigators recovered a note apparently written by one of the girls admitting to the prank, Beall said. They have been transferred to the district's alternative learning center.

A similar incident occured at a school district very close to me. Except the kids put LSD in their teacher's drink.


They were charged, convicted and carted off to juvi.

It was only a few years ago.
