hello. I am working on my fanfilm, and I ran into a problem. Myself and one other actor wear glasses. I don't mind taking mine off, but he says that he is blind withought his glasses. What should I do. I remember this thread came up months ago, but I cant remember what it said. So what should I do

this isnt just a fight. Its a story taking place in the SW universe, and I have never seen any SW character with glasses. Besides, that dork person(whoever that may me[face_mischief]) used that to his advantage in the fight. So it worked out there.

I'm sure there are people in the Star Wars universe who are vision impared.

If you really don't want to wear them, then just get contacts.

    Plo Koon wears sunglasses:p

Tell him to wear contacts, if he can't then glasses will have to do. It's no biggie. [face_peace]

If I'm watching your film, whether or not a character is wearing glasses isn't gonna affect how I like your movie. ;)

The way I see it, if a society has successfully built lightsabers and faster-than-light spacecraft and can't perfect laser eye surgery...something's wrong.

If it's in the SW universe, glasses would bother me.

but some people react adversly to laser eye surgery, so you never know. Although most likely, they'd have implants instead of glasses. But still, there are ways you can make glasses fit. Put them into the costume somehow. And as I said earlier. Use contacts if they bother you.

How blind is this guy? I have pretty awful vision myself, but I can distinguish a stick flying at my face without them. And if he's acting, he really just has to be facing the camera... whenever I don't want glasses in the scenes I just pocket them for a take and put them back on between shots. Unless this guy seriously can't see anything without his glasses, it shouldn't be a huge problem to film without them, especially for non-fighting scenes.

I would look into some sort fo polarized goggles that could still cover the glasses, if he can't wear contacts. Maybe he's vision impaired, but frack, make it look cool.

Me, on the right. Would have worked better if those actually helped me see... I was a bit blind in those things. But it looked better than me squinting at everything to make it focus.

thanks for the input guys. I had an idea, since most of his scenes are action scenes, what if when his back is to the camera, he wears glasses so that no one notices. How about that. And for me, I am not worried, I can see fine enough to fight withought mine.

Turn the glasses into a prop - like a visor or something.

Then have a POV shot of him looking through his glasses, which are now sensors and can spot you hiding behind a wall by registering your body heat. Then continue on as normal, so the glasses become part of his epuipment.

When in doubt, ask Wookieepedia. :-B

Taking that into account, I do like Jedisithor's idea about turning the glasses into a prop of sorts. Either way, it's your film. You must do what you feel is right.

One of the characters in the Ewok movie: Battle For Endor wore glasses. That movie isn't exactly considered SW best, but well, it was the older man who wore glasses. Other than that, I'd have him get contacts and there you go.

Bad idea. We need to see the face of the combatants, and people will still notice the glasses, unless hs body is perfectly blocking all of the action.

One of our major characters in Challenge of the Sith wore glasses. We got some flack for it, but not enough to really matter.

head over to http://www.tbxproductions.net to see it.

Modern glasses on characters in a star wars universe is on my pet peeve list. Right up there with nike shoes, modern shoe laces, blue jeans, watersoakers, gameboys, cell phones... etc.

It has to do with this...

Though I am usually forgiving, like Conspiracy. And I'm sure most of the fan film addictees are the same way. As long as it doesn't distract I don't see any harm in it.

how about if you make a futuristicy type thing to go over the glasses so it kinda looks like the visors seen in knights of the old republic or even that la forge guy from star trek

I think what you're trying to say is if he's not going to wear contacts, and prefers glasses...

Have him wear glasses, and try and find some futuristic looking goggles to place overtop of the glasses so it's not so evident that he's wearing glasses. Star Wars Galaxies when it first was released had some very cool looking goggles, and I think that's something that could work for him.

You could probably work into the storyline that he's blind and requires goggles for sight.

    Like maybe this?

    [image=http://www.cjbalm.com/auto-aero/images/early%20motoring%20goggles%202.jpg]

or perhaps some vintage WWI or WWII RAF goggles this with some replacement reflective or dark lenses

No one's mentioned Saundan's specs from the Holiday Special. :p

I agree wholeheartedly with trying to dress up the glasses into something else.

You could always give him a veil like Visas Marr in KOTOR2.

I know in ESB they managed to hide the fact that Vader was wearing a fencing mask during part of the cloud city duel just by filming him from certian angles. It can't be that hard to hide glasses, just have your actor take them off when the camera is pointed at their face, and have all wide shots taken from the back
