Ever notice that George Lucas pronounces Boba Fett's and Dooku's name differently than the characters in the movie do?

Instead of pronouncing "Dooku" as "doo-koo", he says, "Doe-koo" with emphasis on the SECOND syllable. Instead of pronouncing Boba as "bah-bah", he says "boe-bah."

I realize some people do pronounce Boba Fett as GL does, but Han Solo said it "bah-bah," and I'd go with that. I just find it annoying to watch behind the scenes stuff and GL keeps mispronouncing the names of his own creations!

    What do you guys think?

Han says Bo-Bah so that's what I use.

Lucas does pronounce a lot of things diffrently, my favorite is the Gungans which he pronounces "Goon-Gans". The only thing about it that bothers me is that he's not consistant. His pronunciations vary wildly, even if he uses the same word twice in the same scentence.

I actually used to wonder about pronunciation and if he was right and everyone else was wrong, after all, they are his words. But then on the AotC audio commentary I heard him mispronounce a number of real words that I know how to say. So I guess Lucas just has a funny way of talking. :)

Boba has always been pronounced as "Boh-Ba."

You're the first person I've seen who pronounces it as "Ba Ba".

Lucas has also pronounced Hoth differently. He makes the O a long O, so it rhymes with "both."

And "Geonosian" is pronounced "Geonaw-sian" and "Tatooine" is pronounced as "Taw-tooine" by George. Although I believe it has been pronounced differently in the movies too.

The way it's pronounced in the films is the correct way.

Luke calls Tatooine "Taw-tooine" at the end of ESB, for what it's worth.

// and it pisses me off!!!!!

Lucas pronounces the names of his own creations inconsistently and incorrectly now because he is about as interested in Star Wars as the corpse of Alec Guiness is. It's his cash cow and his burden, not his joy, and everything about Lucas circa '97 to the present screams this fact.

he's a washed up old hack who lucked himself into brilliance. Star Wars, as brilliant as it was, is a fluke for Lucas, and he knows it. As astonishingly awful as these new films are prove this fact.

He's the worlds only wildly sucessful failure.

He is killing Star Wars and he knows it, and I think, secretly, there is a perverse desire in him to ruin his films. I honestly think he hates Star Wars. Clearly he hates the fans.

    It's obviously just an opinion.

And an uninformed one at that.

well, just about 99% of everything on this site is opinion, to that's a really silly request, but, here's some "proof":

    1. Greedo shot first
    2. The Phantom Menace
    3. Attack of the Clones

And how is that proof? There's nothing wrong with any of those.

hold on a second. you honestly think there was absolutely nothing wrong with Greedo shooting first? would it bother you if the writer of your favorite book suddenly changed something in it 20 years later? and that edit was ridiculous? what if Lucas decides to edit out Luke getting his hand chopped off? would that bother you? i know it would bother me.

and you honestly think that TPM and AOTC were good? that they lived up to the original films? seriously, you honestly think that? i can't believe it.

Yes, I do think that. You see, I am one of those few who actually thinks for myself and doesn't just hop on every little bandwagon that goes by. It's a shame that there aren't more people like me, in that respect.

bandwagon? i think the bandwagon is made up exclusively of the so-called fans who worship anything Lucas does regardless of how terrible it is. people like, i don't know, just about everybody on this site, for instance.

perhaps you don't agree, but with art, especially classic pieces, there is a bit of public domain involved. Star Wars belonged as much to the fans as it did to Lucas. if anything, it belongs more to the fans then him. this is the nature of creation. one doesn't create in order to horde that creation and keep it locked away like some secret treasure. it's to be shared and celebrated.

the difference between someone like Lucas and, lets say, a real artist, is that a real artist doesn't endlessly edit their stuff after it's been published, they do something else! maybe they traffic in the same themes, but with different terms or set pieces. early embarrasments in terms of technology or technique are brushed up and a new idea is introduced on a new stage in order to grow. Lucas hasn't and can't do this. he can only rehash and in turn destroy the only thing he did that was worthwhile. period.

also: i don't believe that you really believe what your saying.

could you imagine if all the fans boycotted the prequals completely? he would be forced to improve them. the fans could, then, in a way, save their beloved creator not unlike Luke saved Vader.

    think about it...

first of all, i'm hardly jealous of a man who hasn't known the touch of the opposite sex in at least 20 odd years.

bitter, maybe. bitter because i used to love Star Wars. those original films are really beautiful AND corny and perfect. these new films are garbage. bitter because they could have been good. they should have been good. heck, they should have could have been great... you know, if Lucas dropped the noose and hired a competent director and writer.

and the sad thing is, he had the resources! he could have hired any number of talented brilliant people to work on these films. could you imagine if Peter Jackson did them? they would have been amazing. now, all we have is an epic ad-campaign for mediocrity.

"Yes, I do think that. You see, I am one of those few who actually thinks for myself"

No you don't. You let the Star Wars movies tell you what to think about Star Wars Mr Canon.

"and doesn't just hop on every little bandwagon that goes by. It's a shame that there aren't more people like me, in that respect. "

More people like you? More people unable to realize the difference between the real world and a movie? More people to discard other's opinions and feelings because you don't agree with them? More people to constantly bash other people over the head with Star Wars dogma?

A good example of fans suffering from delusions of granduer. This is nonsensical garbage.

Creations are only in the public domain after their copyrights have expired. All of Star Wars is still legally owned by Lucas, not the fans.
