ST "Good! Our First Catch of the Day." - A Positive Thread

Ladies and Gentlemen,

One element of Star Wars that we ALL love are cheesy lines that are delivered in a cheesy way that may or may not be intended to be laughable. However, these lines unintentionally makes us laugh each time we hear them. Now, there is a subtle distinction between these lines and lines that are definitely intended to make us laugh or provide comic relief, so it can sometimes be difficult to identify the types of lines that I am referring to. Ultimately, it is the delivery of the line in the context of a particular scene that really separates the cheesy lines from the intentionally funny lines. However, I have provided a few examples below.

"There's...too many of them!" - Random Oriental Rebel Pilot (The Return of the Jedi)

"This is Gold Leader. We're starting our attack run." - Gold Leader (A New Hope)

"TK421, why aren't you at your post?" - Imperial Captain (?) (A New Hope)

"Then I'll see you in Hell!" - Han Solo (The Empire Strikes Back)

"I have seen it on a security hologram...of him...killing...younglings." - Obi-Wan Kenobi (Revenge of the Sith)

"Good! Our first catch of the day." - Imperial Captain (?) (The Empire Strikes Back)

"We found them. Repeat. We found them." - Rogue 2 (The Empire Strikes Back)

While the delivery of the lines is cheesy, and the lines themselves are cheesy/lame, I would have Star Wars NO other way. I LOVE LOVE LOVE these absurd lines, and I feel that they give the Star Wars film their own unique feel. There are MANY more examples left to be discussed, but I would specifically like to discuss similar lines that you felt were hilarious in "The Force Awakens".

This thread is NOT meant to be a bash session on the film, nor is it a thread meant to point out the film's flaws. This thread is intended to be a deep analysis of the cheesy lines that we love in our Star Wars films.

What lines in "The Force Awakens" jumped out at you as being cheesy, lame, and downright hilarious?

 

None of the lines you listed are cheesy or lame. Hopefully there is already a thread for this.

 

Only very slightly off-topic -- If you appreciate cheesy lines, you should check out the most recent episode of the Rebel Force Radio podcast. They have David Collins on, who talks about how they called a bunch of Rebels & TCW voice actors in to do a bunch of ADR recording for background characters. They lined up on a soundstage and for the whole session but did nothing but make up cheesy lines like this (and cut up a lot, it sounds like).

 

I just did this, and it was very much worth my time. I absolutely loved it.

 

The best cheesy line wasn't in the movie but only exists in the Disney Store talking Finn figure.

"I DON'T, KNOW WHAT...TO DO!!!!"

 

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Absolutely hilarious.
