This is always something I've wondered. Why is it that Greivous, after his injuries, seems like he is more deadly after the incident that he was before? This is opposed to Vader, who seems is less deadly after the injuries he sustained on Mustafar. It has always been my assumption that Anakin's inuries were more damaging than Grievous's. Or that the Kaleesh species was just more flexible.

The fact that Grievous is pretty much purely a droid except for his gutsack whereas Vader has far more of his Organics left would be my guess.

If not for the force Grievous would be more powerful than Vader. Simply because it's well documented that in many ways Vader's cybernetic attachments may hinder him as opposed to an almost complete cyborg such as Grievous.

Obviously the flesh and blood that curse Vader's veins are force potential, which simply makes him more powerful as an overall, If a little slower than Grievous.

Greivous is just a brain and a few organs sealed in a droid body. Since he is mostly machine, that would naturally give him better mobility than a man with scar tissue all over his body, bad lungs and cyborg arms and legs inside a mobile hyperbaric chamber.

Well he seems alot more put together than Vader. He's a cyborg which makes him half Robot but droidlike so he's still quick. Also he has multiple arms and is taught to duel but Dooku himself.

Vader is more like 85% Robot where he only has a torso and head left. The darkside makes you more powerful within the force but weakeness your exterior, so Vader was pretty much a cripled robot in a suit,But the force kept him pwning everyone.

No CG in 1977 would be the easiest explaination. It's hard to come up with a suitable in-universe explaination, unless Sidious wanted Anakin to keep more of his humanity. If he just wanted to make Vader a fighting machine, he should have brought in the guys who designed the Grievous machine, hacked up everything on Anakin except for the brain, eyes and cardio-pulmonary organs, and shoehorned him in a Grievous-style suit with 6 arms and 3 double-edged lightsabers. But somehow that doesn't seem like a Dark Lord of the Sith. He's slower and more cumbersome now, but damned if he isn't more intimidating that Grievous!

Vader seems less deadly when he's physically cracking Captain Antilles' neck on the Tantive IV? He ain't as limber as Grievous, but he's certainly more deadly than ever before!

Some things I'd like to point out.

    - Grievous was made into a weapon.
    - Vader's suit was meant to keep him alive.

    - Grievous' body was made by the CIS during their peak. The operation was planned out and executed with precision.
    - Vader's suit was improvised basically. There was no planning; the second he was injured they had to get him into a suit. In the book "Dark Lord" Vader states the droids who made his suit did a bad job and rushed the procedure.

Those are good reasons supporting why Vader got worse and Grievous got better. But here are somethings to explain that Vader is better than Grievous.

    - Vader can use the Force.
    - Grievous cannot.

    - Vader defeated Obi-wan.
    - Obi-wan defeated Grievous.

Plus, Grievous scampered away an awful lot. Can't be as powerful as he looks.
In fact, so far the only thing he has over Vader is the gyrating wrists which, while awesome, didn't stop Kenobi.

Grievous was powerful in the cartoons, but the cartoons also added a lot of action to characters. I'm sure a CW Vader would be pretty damn impressive.

What I think slows down/inhibits Vader the most is his armor. Maybe why the Jedi didn't wear any on the battlefield? *shrug*

Grievous' entire body was canablized (sp) when the Geonosians made Grievous into a cyborg. Vader is more equal parts human to machine. Vader's spine was fractured which is why he barely turns his head in the suit. He has a neck fusion. Vader is also carrying a power pack to keep his systems operating at peak levels. Vader has also lost three limbs on Mustafar and one on Geonosis. Rather than doing another complete overhaul, Sidious just had the adjustments that we see from ROTS to ROTJ. Also, unlike Grievous, Vader needs his organic parts to maintain a connection to the Force. Between the loss of limbs and the burns, Vader is a bit weaker in the Force than previously. Grievous was never Force sensitive and as such, the Geonosians could go further.

I wonder if Vader ever got around to installing better legs and arm or at least gave them a fine tuning. I remember anakin/vader stating that his first cyborg arm felt natural to him and when the other arm and legs were slapped on, they felt like crap.

Vader moves quite well for the most part in the OT apart from his big helmet and armor restricting his movements, but he seems to have adapted his saber style to make up for it.

To date, in the eu, it has not been stated if he had replaced those limbs. Though as Palpatine said, he was acting like an insolent child. In time, he got used to his suit and the new limbs.

Exactly. He can still fight, just not like he used to before the injuries on Mustafar. He move and function. It's just not the same as it used to be.

Remember Greivous was like an insectoid/reptoid. He may have been coldblooded.

Anakin is human. And he's not 85% robot. He's missing his lower limbs. He has half his legs and half his arms. I'd say he's about 35% cyborg. He has enough force power to be "80%" of the Emperor, who's the most pwerful force user in hostory. Even post suit, he could still cut down Masters with ease.

I don't think it's fair to compare the two. Grevious is a cyborg who was once human. Vader is a human who has mechanical body parts and a breathing aperatus.

Greivous was never a human. He's a kaleesh.

    And having mechanical body parts=cyborg.

To me, it seems like Palps cheaped out on Vaders suit and just used something off the rack, instead of getting a powerful custom made suit.

Grievous may have been quick and flashy, but Vader would have massacred him.

Grievous would have had 20 objects flying at his head. By the time he cleared his head, he'd be flying across the room without any of his lightsabers. Finally, Vader would force choke his "organ sac".

You must realize, better cyborg parts or not, that Grievous is doomed.

Yes, if they did to Vader what they did to Grevious he wouldn't have any Force powers left. And that's entirely the reason Sidious wants him. Why he left Vader in a really cumbersome suit is anyone's guess. But it surely has something to do with obedience, giving him a fearsome look, and keeping him pissed off at the universe, as well as keeping him alive.

Grievous was mostly machine, and seemed more agile than Vader because Vader was more of a crippled man using some assistance from machinery to move. Had his damage been more complete, perhaps his body could have been motorized to be more agile as well.

Vader was always tweaking with his mechanical parts. His golden arm that was a result of Geonosis and later replaced on Nelvaan was cut off or partially destroyed in combat with a Jedi some time after ROTS, so probably that ended up feeling like crap as well.

If the skeletal structure shown when Vader is hit by Force Lightning in ROTJ is any indication, Vader is still missing both arms below the elbow joint.

Man, Grievous versus suited Vader is one of my top 3 dream matches, up there with Maul versus Luke and Mace versus Dooku!

Mace vs. Dooku would be the only close match. Any time after Luke becomes a full Jedi Knight, he'd be too powerful for Maul. Grievous would lose hard against Vader. One Force Crush to his vitals is all it would take.

I'm also not sure that Mace vs. Dooku would be a close match since Mace was able to hold his own against the Emperor.
