Gungan Jedi

Take this seriously- Not because there so stupid (which I would agree) But why were there never any gungan jedi? The chances were if we were to ever see one, besides EU it would be in the clonewars.

 

Because due to the Jar Jar backlash they don't really get used much, though I think a Gungan Jedi could have potential.

 

Because Gungans lived under water and even the Naboo were not completely aware of their exisence, I don't think. I don't think the Republic knew to search there for force sensitive children.

 

Millions of intelligent species, and ten thousand Jedi. It isn't going to happen.

 

If Jar-Jar was not so annoying in TPM I think it would look good. But Gungans do not appear to be that intelligent. Ever thought of a slapstick Jedi? I don't think so.

 

Jar-Jar was an outcast because he was so clumsy and annoying. That might say something like we don't tolerate clumsiness in our village, we don't want you here.

I was also reading the Ultimate Alien Anthology book and it says that there have been reports of Force adepts among the Gungans, however none have taken the step to become a Jedi. So therefore it is possible.

 

It'd be possible, but the Gungans separated themselves from the Naboo. I don't think any Jedi ever came across them. If any were discovered, it'd be after TPM. And seeing as Jedi take Jedi potentials when they're quite young, the Gungan padawan would only be 10 - 15 by the time of AotC.
Though s/he'd be 13 - 18 by the time of the purge...

I agree with some of these. But not the ones that say because gungans are stupid. Jar Jar is stupid doesnt meen all the other gungans are...

 

Never thought about a Gungan Jedi before, but I think it sounds interesting. I guess if they were strong in the Force, they can be Jedi.

 

Their king isn't exactly a pillar of intelligence either. The Gungan soldiers very pretty cool though. I can definetly imagine one of them wielding a lightsaber.

 

Most politicians aren't reflective of the best qualities society has to offer, anyway. I was always quite fond of the Gungan general. He was a cool character.

I'm going to say "unknown." There are thousands of planets attached to the Senate, and the Jedi can only stretch themselves so far. Most Jedi children are most likely found by chance or by the parents offering based on the belief that the kids are Force-sensitive...plus, Lucas mentions in his commentary how young Jedi children are. The kids we see training with Yoda are only 4-5 years old. Given their skill levels, it's obvious they've been there for awhile. Thus, I'm going to say Jedi children have to be found as early as a 1-2 years of age for the Jedi to want them. Anakin at 9, after all, is far too old.

Given that age restriction, one can imagine that the Jedi likely don't find many Force sensitives at the proper time. I imagine they often turn to known sources, like a family who has shown Force sensitivity through severeal geneations. i.e. if the Skywalker family had been around earlier. Had Anakin not turned and managed to stay with Padme, I think it's fair to assume the twins may have been wisked away to train as Jedi given their Force potential. And then from there, you would assume the lineage would remain strong. In the EU, the Solo kids are Force Strong, and Luke and Mara's son Ben is powerful enough to manipulate the force at 2 years old. The sort of stuff.

 

Very well put. The size of the republic is an dominant issue. There are 50 million planets in the Republic.12 million of them are populated. That hardly leaves much room for good timing

 

If you look through the assorted fan art sites, you can find some good concepts of Gungans as Jedi...

Perhaps there were Gungans that were strong in the Force, but since no-one knew of them, how could've they develop their powers.

 

I think it is very well possible. Maybe there is an extremly special gungan that does have the force in him. Maybe we will see it someday in the EU world.

 

Since Jar Jar mentioned the Force before, a Gungan Jedi is a possibility. If the Gungans heard of it, they could allow themselves to be taken for Jedi training.

The Q is that I don't see the Jedi considering a Gungan, as they are warriors by nature. Maybe?

 

I'm not to keen on the Gungan Jedi idea. As far as Maxi Big the Force. Jar Jar's trying to impress the Jedi talking about stuff he has no idea about.

 

I think the above reason somes up why there have been no Gungan Jedi... because lots of fans would be desperate to see that Jedi be killed... the same reason why we've never seen an official Ewok Jedi... or an official Gamorrean Jedi... and while I'm a fan of all species as Jedi, I can see why they'd shy away from that.

In other words: Oh the Force is so great! Well that stinks!

 

Theoretically, yes. After the Purges, no.

Maybe in the days of the Old Republic.

I like the gungans and JarJar. Yes they went over the top with JarJar in TPM, but I still liked him, and I really liked him in AOTC. I for one hope that some EU author has the courage to make a Gungan Jedi.

 

To Tell You the truth I dont know if I would like a gungan jedi or not. But a good way for one to start would maybe be in the background of a comic. some people would notice and if they had good reports then...Boom possibly a steo up towards a gungan jedi.
