Gungans, Ewoks and Jawas. Which is the most intelligent? And why do you think that!

Jawas because they have sandcrawlers and are excellent traders/bargainers/merchants

Gungans by far, look at the city and technology they built.

What do the jawas have? A piece of junk mobile junk storage unit that they probably stole.

What do the ewoks have? Bows and arrows.

 

i have to agrree jawas, all of the above stated by obi and also Gungans talk dumb and act dumb, they dont even have blaster. and ewoks are more basic and havent developed meaning they are still dumber the the jawas, they have sticks for weapons!!!.

 

bburditt is right on this one and is not even close. The Gungans have an amazing city and far superior technology. Jawas are just junk traders. That is it. The fact that their eyes glow does not make them intelligent. Ewoks are clearly the most primitive.

That's like saying the French are stupid because they talk different from us. I agree with you to an extent about acting dumb, but only if we are talking about Jar-Jar.

I hate to say it but probably the Gungans.
Jawas could be argued but as far as we have seen, there is no jawa city, just jawa nomands

Gungans. I don't see too many Jawas or Ewoks building stuff like the Underwater City or those nifty Gungan Subs.

 

Jawas have sandcrawlers, and are clearly good with electronics.

Gungans. Just because Jar Jar's a bit lacking in the mental department doesn't mean all of his race are.

I think I'm going to have to agree with Obi on this issue: I don't know whose the superior, but Jawas are just plain cooler than the rest.

Jawas stole the Sandcrawlers from previous mining expeditions that had been had on the planet. Psh.

 

The Gungans have a whole underwater civilization and plenty of advanced technology. Play Galactic Battlegrounds.

 

Well, Gungans would be the more advanced species what with their technology.

 

Gungans. Their technology is years beyond the Jawas. Cities below the water, amazing shield generators, and the boomers are great weapons!

I have to agree that it seems like the Gungans are better due to great city, tech, etc. However Jawas live on Tatooine. It's a much more difficult environment to live in, sand... sandpeople, so I'd have to say that the Jawas are more intelligent.

 

or I could say ewoks since jawas are sort of ewoks. but thats probably going a little to far

 

Gungans, they have the only true civilization. Permament cities, organized goverment, and the other three which I've forgotten over the past few years.

 

Ewoks, because they have explored the whole planet of Endor, made maps and they look so cute espical;ly the mean looking ones.

 

Difficult question to answer since they are different species, but consider this:

Although human societies in modern times can't really be found living in total isolation (with the possible exception of deep Amazonian tribes until as recently as the 70's or 80's), such peoples were extant, living in straw huts, using bow and arrow level technologies, at the same time people in other parts of the world were living in huge cities with skyscrapers, using computers to launch rockets into space, sending men to the moon.

Where resources are scarce, people live nomadic lifestyles to this day. So geographical and historical factors need to be considered, because no one would argue that one ethnicity is obviously smarter than another based on their use of technology. That would be considered racist. We don't have that problem when comparing different species from different planets in Star Wars, but neither can we speculate, whithout explicit information, on what kinds of historical or geographical factors shaped the societies of the Ewoks, Jawas, or Gungans.

However, we can speculate that the Ewoks never encountered advanced technologies before ROTJ, as indicated by their treatment of C-3PO as a god, failing to recognize him as a machine. The Gungans and the Jawas have both likely been exposed to technologies outside their own creation, although it does appear that the Gungans have constructed some technologies that are unique among the SW universe. It also seems likely to me that all of the Jawa technology is essentially borrowed, but that they obviously have a high mechanical aptitude.

The Jawas, however, were nomadic, most probably by necessity, whereas the Gungans had the benefit of long-term settlements, something that historically on Earth has aided the advancement of technology, as a sedentary lifestyle allows for a faster accumulation of knowledge.

But take this into consideration, hypothetically: we don't know how long the 3 species in question have existed at their current level of technology. What if, only 1000 years prior to ANH, the Jawas were living in caves and hunting with spears? Or if 1000 years before TPM the Gungans were just swimming around catching fish with harpoons? Or if 1000 years after ROTJ the ewoks were smelting metal, building with concrete and experimenting with gunpowder? I mean, in the time it's taken humans to go from caves to apartment buildings, we haven't gotten much smarter. We've just accumulated more knowledge, and we're talking about 100,000 years here.

So my point is you can't use the level of technology as a guideline for intelligence. Personally, just from their behaviors on screen, I think that if you were to take a typical Ewok, Jawa and Gungan, raise them all in a similar society and give them identical educations, and then have them each take a standardized aptitude test, the Jawa would come out on top. But hey, that's just a guess.
