Ha-ha! Sean Astin was in Encino Man!

I didn't even realize it until I saw (and still seeing) it on today! He looks like such a loser!

So LOTR isn't the only cinematic masterpiece Sean Astin's been in.

He was also the lead in this really old (80's) Steven Spielberg flick called "The Goonies", on which a there was this character called "Sloth" who seems to be Gorbag's (the lead orc in the Siege of Minas Tirith) twin brother a world and a few ages removed. Anyway, rent it and see for yourself.

Oh yeah, he also played the belly gunner of the "Memphis Belle" B-19 bomber on the movie of the same name.

 

Dont forget about that one where he hooks up with some stripper played by an UN-Siliconed Shannon Elizabeth.

I dont remember the name though.

 

I mentioned this in the LOTR thread the other week, although I realised as soon as I saw FOTR. We call it 'California Man' in Europe insted of 'Encino Man'. I liked it, good film.

The guy is a great actor.
Lots of great actors make bad movies sometimes to make a living and keep their career afloat. I thought he was great in ROTK. I'm looking forward to his next movie.

He's great in Kurt Vonnegut's Harrison Bergeron. Everyone should see that.

 

Considering that Sean's parents are John Astin (Gomez on The Addams Family) and Patty Duke (The Patty Duke Show), I'd say he can afford to be in Encino Man.

Elijiah Wood will always be that adorable little boy in Radio Flyer and Huck Finn. Sorry, Elijiah.
