Ha! Ice Cube will replace Vin Diesel in XXX 2

"Ice Cube will replace Vin Diesel in the Revolution sequel to its action franchise XXX, to be directed by Lee Tamahori (Die Another Day).

Originally envisioned as a franchise to star Diesel, Cube will step in to play a new character who is recruited by the National Security Agency to become a XXX agent.

Tamahori will direct the new adventure, which will be largely set in Washington D.C. and emphasize thriller elements over the first's extreme sports action. He will helm from a script by Simon Kinberg (Mr. and Mrs. Smith). Revolution plans to begin shooting next summer for a 2005 release.

Vin Diesel next stars in The Chronicles of Riddick, Universal's followup to Pitch Black, and did not want to film two sequels back-to-back.

Diesel will instead star in Hannibal for Revolution. Written by Gladiator screenwriter David Franzoni, the film follows the exploits of the 3rd century B.C. Carthaginian general who rode an elephant across the Alps to attack Rome."


lol, this just strikes me as funny. the first movie was horrible and now the star jumps ship on the sequel. This will no doubt turn out like 2 fast 2 furious and speed 2.

i think it's a good career move for vin diesel anyway. i'd rather see him in riddick and hanibal than i would in xxx2.

If it was possible for that movie to be able to suck any more ass, making a second one and putting Ice Cube in it just sealed the deal.

 

I vowed never to watch the first one...and I never, ever will...so this news doesn't bother me too much.

Personally, I loved the first movie. It was way better than some of the other movies I saw that summer. It'll be really weird to see Ice-Cube in his place. Now, I'm not sure if I'll watch.

You know, even with those movies under his belt he's not a whole lot anyway.

Probably a good move on his part, doing that means he's keeping his head above water at least - barely anyway.

It was. Nearly all of them died because elephants can't stand the cold.

But elephants can mess a helluvalot of stuff up. Horses can neigh.

i don't hate vin as much as many of you do, but his last few movies haven't been all that great. i'm hoping riddick turns out well.

 

if he wasn't gonna do XXX2 he should have just done 2F2F and made hella bank that way. what a tool.

 

I thought Diesel was gonna be the anchor of the franchise. It doesn't make sense to call it XXX2.

Also, I can't imagine Ice Cube as an action star.

Oh well. It'll probably be better than the first one, at least.
