Han's line, "Even I get boarded sometimes. You think I had a choice?" was originally scripted and shot only as part of the Jabba scene. When the Jabba scene was cut, this line was added to the Greedo scene. The fact that we don't see Han's face when he says it to Greedo and the fact that the inflection sounds exactly the same both times suggests that they actually dubbed Harrison Ford's audio from the Jabba scene into the Greedo scene. (I know most dialog recorded on set isn't used, but some of it is used if it's good enough, and whether they used the on-set recording or the looping session recording, the line sounds exactly the same both times.)

WHY, then, didn't Lucas remove the line from the Greedo scene when the Jabba scene was restored, and reedit the Greedo scene to conform to how it had originally been scripted? It's so redundant to leave it the way it is. Bad George.

Sorry if this thread is redundant but I missed any discussion of whether there's only one recording of Harrison Ford's line that now appears twice in ANH since the SE.

I noticed the same thing when I watched the ANH DVD (up to this point, I've only had the OOT so didn't remember the SE version). He says the same line the same way twice. Yes, to two different people, but it seems redundant. But would the Greedo exchange work without it?

Sometimes in life I saw the same things to people. Maybe Han likes to say that line.

Maybe Han was just showing off.

I say both scenes are fine. Who cares if Han says the same thing twice? He's basically having the same argument with two different people, so naturally some of the same arguments would arise in both conversations. Jabba never heard him talking to Greedo. This even happens to ordinary people in real life sometimes, so it's not a big deal. :D
