In ESB, Han is tortured by the Imperials by some kind of electric-shock apparatus. I have some questions regarding this:

    1) Did the Imperials bring this equipment with them?

    2) Did Cloud City already have this torture device on hand (maybe those Bespin guards aren't as benevolent as we can be led to believe)?

    3) Or, did the Imperials reconfigure an existing device on Cloud City to be a torture machine?

    4) Or, maybe Boba Fett had it on Slave I and Vader leased it from him (I can't imagine Fett letting Vader use it for free).

    5) Were Leia and Chewie tortured too? If not, where was Leia before she was thrown in the cell with Han and Chewie?

    Good questions.
    I don't know exact answers...
I don't think Leia or Chewie were tortured at any time.
I have never read any EU that dealt with this...maybe the ESB book has more on the subject.

" 1) Did the Imperials bring this equipment with them?"

Possibly, I wouldn't be surpirsed if Vader brought torture devices wherever he went. He just seems like that kinda guy.

" 2) Did Cloud City already have this torture device on hand (maybe those Bespin guards aren't as benevolent as we can be led to believe)?"

Maybe this is how Lando handles those "labour difficulties" he's complaining about.

" 5) Were Leia and Chewie tortured too? If not, where was Leia before she was thrown in the cell with Han and Chewie?"

She was changing from her evening gown to her, more practical, prisoner outfit.

I think that the ESB novelization mentioned that Leia had been tormented, but not in any detail. I may be thinking of the ROTJ novel, where it mentioned that Leia was tortured by Jabba's droids before donning her classic bikini. As for the stormies on Bespin, they probably looked at Chewie and thought, "man, what are we supposed to do with this guy, put on a black glove and punch him? No way, the guy's huge and hairy and yells alot, and he would probably eat us", so they targeted his sensitive hearing. As for the torture rack, who knows, Boba Fett probably had one in his back seat!

IIRC, the device was actually a metal scanner of some sort. However, the flashes and sparks it produced made it a great substitute for a torture machine. [face_devil]

I believe Vader brought it with him.

I don't think the device was a torture device - maybe it was something they used to repair droids, or whatever, and the Imperials used it to torture Han.

Apparently equipment brought with the Imperials I'd assume.

The Imperials brought it with them. Leia and Chewie were not physically tortured, though the alarm really hurt Chewie's ears during that one scene. Leia got off pretty easy physically, though emotionally it was obviously pretty tough.
