    Q. When han solo is frozon in ESB, his hands are handcuffed in front of him, he's lowered and then frozen in carbonate in an blinding instant. But when he comes back up his hands are raised by his head. Now i know this has probably been explained a thousand times on here but i am new, i am 34 years old, i am a star wars nut, and i have never worked this out. Is han solo a kind of david blaine ?

As soon as the freezing commenced his bonds were broken, I'm sure he raised his hands as the carbonite went around him. Probably a subconcious reaction.

Surely there would n't have been time? I mean even if we are to believe the bonds were broken, he was frozen in an instant to keep him alive. Is this scene a blooper ?

The ugnaughts remove his binders before he's lowered in.

They do leave the bicept straps in place, but that doesn't seem to be what you're asking about.

I always thought about that also, minor mess up. What are you going to do.

I believe LFL said that the binders were made of carbonite and so when he was frozen they just became a part of the block indistinguishable from the rest.

As posted before, the handcuffs that Han is wearing are taken off by the Ugnaughts before he is lowerewd into the carbonite freezer.

    EDIT: Spelling of Ugnaughts.

Yep, watch the scene again. The Ugnaughts remove the cuffs but leave the bicep straps in place.

If you've seen the VHS verson (not the new DVDs) he also has his vest on in some scenes. It was bad editing at the time. Some scenes he has his vest and some no vest. Lucas cleaned this up on the DVDs.
