It's officially Easter on the East Coast for the Orthodox. After sharing the same day last year, we're off on extremes. Us in May. Everyone else in March.

Just came back from services and had my easter breakfast. Back to the days of Meat and Cheese at last.

    Christ is Risen!!!
    Indeed He is Risen!!!

Guys, it's just like everyone else's Easter just a little more traditional. Go to church. Eat meat. That's about it.

I never knew the Orthodox celebrated Easter in May, that's pretty interesting. Happy Easter, Moleman (and to all Orthodox)!

They don't celebrate it in May, in fact, a few years ago, it fell on the same day as Catholic/Protestant Easter. The Orthodox go by the old Julian calender as opposed to the Gregorian one used in the West.

Oh, and Happy Easter-did you get pashka bread? (One of my professors, who was from Russia, brought some in that his wife made. It was really good!)

    Thanks.
Though I'm Catholic, my mom's family is orthodox. We had Easter dinner at my uncle's house (complete with lamb.)

My uncle had red dyed eggs (though I lost and got my egg cracked by my cousin and uncle.)

What exactly is the story with the red eggs? I heard it awhile ago, but I can't really remember it now.

Shouldn't easter be the same weekend as Passover? Seeing as Jesus was crucified the friday before passover and all?

Hebrew calendar is totally different altogether, so it's no use trying to match the dates tofether.

Thanks everyone. We do go by the old calendar. And it also has to do something with moons and spring.

This is the second time, I've had a May Easter. It's in place of March.

This was surely an interesting diversion from Star Wars. Anyways, Happy Easter to you in May. I am Catholic as well, but I was wondering if you celebrate two Easters or just one. I am very familiar with the two calanders and respect both Easter but I am just curious because I just celebrate one easter.

Man, last year it was so much more convenient :p I have a Coptic friend so it's Easter for her as well.

    Happy Easter! :)
