It's one of the funniest movies I've ever seen.

It has Rick Moranis and Dave Thomas portraying Bob & Doug McKenzie. I think it came out in about '83 or '84.

    My favorite line:

A nervous breakdown, eh? I had one of those, when he was born.

I saw it years ago. I really don't remember anything about it, but, from what I remember, it was really funny. They're the same characters from the Molson Golden commercials.

    Let's go Giants!!

The funniest scene is when the brothers are careening down a steep hill after the brake lines on their van were cut.

"Well, no point in steering now."

"Take off, you steer this thing!"

Or at the beginning when they give the dog the beer, and then dump it back in the cup. Then they drop it.

    Dad! Bob broke your beer!

I rented the DVD a few weeks ago... it's a lot of fun. I think it's probably a lot funnier if accompanied by a six-pack or two... ;)

I saw it around the time it came out. I swear I was the only person to have seen it back then. It was years before I ran into someone else who saw this.

I LOVE THIS MOVIE! It is classic and very underrated.
    what was the SW part

    "I am your father Luke"
    "Take off,eh"

Truly a classic (I'm showing my age again). I just noticed the other day that it is available on DVD.

The characters were created by Thomas and Moranis when they were with Second City...if memory serves.

    I also recall:
    - A song (theme song?) with Rush (or at least the lead singer of Rush.
    - Their special version of the Twelve Days of Christmas
    "...and a beer...in a tree"
    - That Mel Blanc did the voice of their father in the movie, which in addition to the Star Wars references made the film all the cooler ;)

I loved that the mouse in the beer bottle was still alive when they tried their free beer scheme.

Yeah, that's what's funny about it. It's still alive, and the beer company still believes them.

My dad was telling me they were origionally characters on the Canadian version of the US's SNL, but I forget what he said it was called.

I also have a CD that has some of their gags from the show on there, it's really funny. It has the 12 Day's of Christmas song on there.

At the beginning, they try to figure out what the 12 days are.

    They come up with:
    Christmas
    Christmas Eve
Boxing Day (Called Wrestling Day by Doug)
    New Years
    New Years Eve
    Two Saturdays
    Two Sundays
    3 Mystery Days

    The actual song is:
    A beer... in a tree
    2 turtle necks
    3 french toast
    4 pounds back bacon
    5 golden tooks (sp?)
6 packs of (twocore?) [I can't tell what they say]
    7 packs of smokes
    8 comic books
    They skip 9, 10, and 11
12 Good Day and welcome to day 12

The show was SCTV (which stands for Second City Television). It wasn't live like SNL -- it was just a half-hour comedy skits show.
