How Rey just sprinkled some fairy dust into boiling water and it turned into a nice hearty bread roll. Very Fifth Element esque. Are there other instances of Star Wars cuisine prepared in this manner? I'm sure Yoda would have liked a nice bread roll to go along with his stew. Bread from water? Is there a bigger spiritual symbolism behind that? Since we never really see it elsewhere. Bread of life kind of thing? Made from the element which brings life? Might be a stretch, might not be. It did make quite a presence during Rey's introduction. And in Star Wars, when even the tiniest subtleties get analyzed, something that pronounced should be discussed also I suppose. Or can we just assume it is a standard in universe cooking method? What's the science behind it? I guess on a deserted planet with limited resources it would make sense that somebody would have done a science experiment to come up with that as a solution for long term sustenance. Might Disney serve up some Rey Rolls in their upcoming Star Wars restaurants? I would like a Rey Roll with some Blue Milk please! Anyways, just found that a peculiar little nuance in TFA.
Of course we have talked about it. We were all gutted that it was shamefully not marketed to us on Force Friday. I would be eating that stuff until Kingdom Come. It would go great with the vintage box of C-3POs cereal that I have been nursing for 30 years. Today's bowlful gave me my daily required dose of penicillin.
It is the key to everything. Turns out there's all kinds of content about it online, including recipes for how to make it. A pot of Yoda's stew, a roll of Rey's bread, and a glass of blue milk sounds pretty good right now. A good staple meal for any Force Friday no doubt. I hope the new Disney Star Wars themed restaurants have items labeled like this. A bit like Itchy and Scratchy Land.
And how to make it: http://www.ign.com/articles/2016/02...nstant-bread-from-star-wars-the-force-awakens
Looked tasty. Wanted some. Can't wait for the Black Series bread or the LEGO bread. Or the STAR WARS CROSS SECTIONS: AMAZING FOOD including REY'S BREAD
That bread was indeed real, based on what I read in an interview with JJ, but rather tasteless though... Sent from MillenniumFalcon AI using Tapatalk
I'm sure I read an interview where someone said the water got sucked out the bottom of the container while the bread was inflated from underneath to make it look like the water and powder had reacted and expanded. Which I thought was a really simple and cool solution!
Don't you guys get it? Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher both have jewish roots, so naturally, Rey eating leavened bread is their secret way of saying Rey is not a Skywalker! Duhhh
There's apparently a deleted scene (which mirrors this one) of Kylo Ren baking some of his own special bread:
