Hello! And thank you for letting me join! My name is Jim Ralston, also known as Rodann from the RPF since Oct 2000. I was much more active there in the early 2000s, and designed tons of machined lightsabers for my collection. Which brings me to the point of my joining…. I googled my names a few years ago, and was kind of shocked at finding several sites that were discussing, arguing about, and insulting my own personal characters/designs as though they were EU canon. They aren’t, but so much time has passed, that I’ve been long forgotten, and my characters somehow live on. Just to clarify…. Because after all these years, it still bugs me that people are talking about my stuff without context, and I’m just searching out all the mentions of my “characters” in various communities….. Darth Nemesis (a name which other people have also used) was the name I gave a custom lightsceptor, back when I was building lightsabers at the RPF (Replica Prop Forum) in 2000. I’m Rodann there, and anything affiliated with that name is also me. I’m a machinist, and I used to do a lot of customs. It was never intended for random “public consumption” or uninformed debate, but another member there took my ideas, embellished them, and added them to his lightsabers history page on his website, without my permission. It was just a design I built for myself, and my collection. Just for me:/ On some sites, people complained about the name, which is kind of ridiculous to do, IMO…… Darth Nemesis was named for an existing character in G.I. Joe. Also, Sidious is a dumb name, and Maul is just a WORD.lol There is a link to the thread here, below, where I wanted to clarify, but it has been locked. Yes, it’s old, but I just want to try and nip this in the bud ( a bit late, I know), because it will only continue. But if anyone here belongs to a website where guys are arguing about these characters, could you please set them straight for me. The names originated at the RPF, by me (Rodann), where I showed off my designs. But this is what I randomly find reposted on some websites, prompting people to argue about it like it was meant for that. Even though it gives me credit at the bottom, it still doesn’t seem to matter to a lot of people: ………………………………………… Darth Nemesis, The Nemesi Order (also see Crimson Mortem) This is the oldest working single unit lightsaber known to exist. It was wielded by a sadistic Dark Jedi of the Sith in it's golden age. Not only was it used as a lightseptor but as a tool of torture. Nemesis took pleasure in making his enemies writhe in pain before finishing them off. This formidable weapon could be hurled across a room and impale it's unfortunate victim. The second rear activation crystal would activate on impact assuring the kill. Darth Nemeisis' reign of terror came to an end when the Jedi Rodann swiftly ended his life. This artifact now resides in the Jedi Temple as a reminder: the Sith may still be among us. If anybody here has ever had an idea or copyright stolen and you probably know how it feels. It’s just really weird, and unsettling. There was also a “JK Sabers” selling replicas of my design, even calling it the “Darth Nemesis Lightsceptor” Just feeling old, and wanting to set the record straight.
