My name is Sergey. I am 27 years old. I live in Richmond (a suburb of Vancouver), in Canada. Originally, I am from Russia, born and raised in Moscow for half of my life (half now, anyway lol) Moved here when was in Grade 8, did half the Grade back there, half here. Then went to high school and college here. Now, I am working and also continuing my education. My first exposure to Star Wars was back in 1999, when my parents bought me a VHS tape (we didn't have a DVD player yet, that technology arrived to Russia a little bit later) of The Phantom Menace for my birthday. You must understand, when the original trilogy came out, it was still the Soviet Communist era over there. Most Western films were banned, including those (understandably, given that USSR itself was an evil "Empire" and, moreover, was also fighting "rebels" in Afghanistan at the time lol How would regular people in Soviet Union have reacted to those films, you think? ). So, most Russians, including my parents and my older sister, had, at that time, when Episode I came out, never seen, most never even heard of, those first movies. Most, myself included, didn't know or understand that it was a prequel. To us, that WAS the first, original Star Wars. And I, personally, loved it I was always into Sci-Fi. I read Strugatsky brothers, Aleksey Tolstoy, and Herbert Wells and such people. Loved that stuff, always. My parents knew it, that's why bought me that tape. And I've been a fan ever since. Right now, I'm actually working (just for fun, I write a lot for fun, never have published my work anything, only let family and close friends read it) on a sort of "fan fiction". Maybe will share more of and about that in the apropriate section here when I get more of it done. But, in short, its my alternate story based on the prequels. I don't know how many here watched the animated TV series Clone Wars. There is an episode, close to the end of the last, sixth season, where a Clone Trooper discovers the Inhibitor Chip which will make him and his comrades kill Jedi in near future. He gets the chip out of his head and tries to warn the Jedi, specifically Anakin Skywalker, about all of it. But he fails, gets killed, the secret conspiracy goes on. Well, in my story, basically, it starts with a different ending for that episode. Skywalker and Clone Commander Rex DO listen to this Trooper, discover the conspiracy, and trace it to Palpatine himself. Yoda himself insists on leading Skywalker, Obi-Wan and a bunch of clones to take down Palpatine. As they all barge in on him, they find Palpatine secretly meeting with Dooku. They all fight and kill the two Siths, but, in the battle, Yoda also dies, sacrificing himself to save Anakin. Later, a massive operation unfolds to de-chip the Clones. Meanwhile, Anakin and Obi-Wan hunt down and destroy General Grievous, as they indeed did in Episode III. Later, Padme Amidala is elected as the new Supreme Chancellor of the Republic; while Mace Windu would replace Yida as head of the Jedi Council and leader of the Jedi. With their main leaders (Dooku and Grievous) gone, the Separatist forces quickly start to lose the war, and beg for peace. As the peace negotiations drag on, Anakin and Padme live on as a happly couple. Everything seems to be going great. No Palpatine and his evil influence means Anakin rejects the Dark Side. No Darth Vader. No Empire, no Death Star, none of any of that crazy ****. However, when Padme becomes pregnant, and later gives birth to little Luke and Leya, problems arise, as they are, now, forced to come out, publicly, as a married couple. Anakin gets into trouble at the Temple, as it is against their Code for Jedi to have a family, or any such close personal relationship, outside the Order. Meanwhile, Padme is attacked in the Senate, many question her integrity, for lying all this time, and also worry that her, as Supreme Chancellor, being married to a Jedi, will give the Order, perhaps, too much influence over the government. Not only Senators are upset, but regular citizens as well. Protests erupt on the streets of Coruscant. And Padme and Anakin are divided also. While she is ready to peacefully step down and call a new election, he, who still carries Darkness within him and also happens to passionately love his wife, is ready to defend her, including by, perhaps, using the Clone forces to violently supress the opposition. Perhaps, as the story goes on, Anakin will become, while not, technically, a Sith, no better than Dooku or Palpatine and, if Padme fails to stop him from ordering the Clones to crack down on the dissidents, a new kind of rebels will also emerge: against the Republic Wouldn't that be interesting to explore? Especially in the Trump era... Anyway, thanks for appriving me, very nice to be here, looking forward to posting more. Sorry if this is a bit long. I do tend to go on in my posts, that is my style
Hello there and welcome. I'm from Canada to, Ontario. Sounds like it was a much more difficult situation in the USSR then I had thought, one of the reasons my parents left Poland in the 70s. If you like The Clone Wars check out the Star Wars TV forums.
Welcome to the boards! You might enjoy the Fanfic board and possibly the Role Playing Forum. Please let us know if we can help you find anything.
Hello, my name is Rick. I have been a Star Wars fan since I was very young. My uncle first introduced them to me and I was hooked. I was 5 when the Special Editions came out and I was 8 when The Phantom Menace was released. I didn't see Episodes II and III until my late teens because my parents suddenly decided the Force was witchcraft and banned the films from the household. The lack of exposure to Star Wars in those years sadly caused me to, for a time, get snobby about Star Wars and disregard them as childish rubbish. Thankfully, I got over it and rediscovered my obsession in my adulthood. Since then I have actively delved into not just the films, but also the EU comics, novels, and video games, and The Clone Wars and Rebels TV series. I enjoy both the Disney and Legends continuity and see no reason to dislike one or another. I write a weekly blog called Star Wars EU Reviews in which I review the Expanded Universe comics, novels, games, films, and TV series.
Welcome to the boards. Your Star wars story is a fascinating one indeed. Your perspective will be very much sought after around here. And I love your profile pic.
HI SergeyX2017 I enjoy your perspective on SW fiction and real life geopolitical events. This is a welcome thread, but I'd like to talk about your SW fan fiction outline. When Palpatine and Dooku are removed as leaders of both opposing entities, did the Republic/Jedi make an effort to hold meetings with the Separatists as opposed to simply continuing a war of deception?
