No it was 5:21 unless you're talking about real time.

Yep, that was dissapointing- but then every team has a terrible game at some point. At the very least, the Rangers only had aterrible 5 minutes, as they otherwise controlled the game ;) And, it is at the very least an illustration about what makes the game so good- no matter how much your down by, regardless of how much time is left on the clock, it's never a done-deal.

Rangers get edged out by the short-handed-goal-prone Isles and a faltering power play, as well as MacDonald being in the zone the whole game, but then follow up with a decisive victory over Tampa Bay with a reinvigorated power play and a hat trick by Drury. :D

I am amused that many of the "Weekes has been #1 before" articles seem to ommit him being the Rangers' #1 for about a month or two at the start of the post-lockout season ;)

Hopefully Marty will make a full recovery and go earn the records he deserves (so long as they aren't from games against the blueshirts ;) ).

I'm glad he's getting a chance to really show what he can do, at least. From all accounts from his teammembers, he's got a lot of heart and is usually really good on the road, he just had the unfortunate luck of falling under King Henrik's suddenly-emerging shadow while with the Rangers and almost immediately falling from #1 to #2, and then being traded to the Devils where he'd sit under Marty "plays every freaking game" Brodeur's shadow until now.

Obviously, he's not going to suddenly be the Devs' #1 after Marty returns, but it might put him in a better position to either get more play time or be traded to a team as their #1- depending on how he performs here, of course. But it's gonna be the best shot he's going to get.

You can give goaltenders too many chances: vide Dan Clouthier. His teammates loved him. Which didn't make him a good goaltender.

I think Cloutier was generally a very talented goaltender, just couldn't handle the pressure of being a goalie in a Canadien nhl team.

Oh, and lol @ the Devils for letting in 4 (really 5) goals in about 5-6 minutes in the 2nd.

    Everybody gets one ;)

    Rangers win on semi-home turf, 5-2. [face_dancing] [face_flag]

Lundqvist is now 9-0-1 in the last 10 meetings with the Devs.

Can the Sharks be doing any better this year so far? I'm amazed. Another day, another win. :D

I was there and the place was rockin during the first period. I've been so impressed with the post-Wilson Sharks. They're almost like a whole different team. Great game tonight.

Well, that didn't take long ... Barry Melrose already out as coach of the Lightning

Seems ... odd, to say the least. You hire a coach who's been out of coaching for over a decade, and sixteen games in, you fire him for not getting immediate results. Wow.

To be honest, the average amount of ice time he gave to Lecavalier was very questionable.

I get that some (or most) of his tactics were off, but you've got to allow a learning curve after that much time away from doing it.

The only way this would make sense is if Al Davis owned the team.

Ultimately I think the problem was that they had very high expectations for this year with all of their signings and the addition of Stamkos. Two points shy of last place in the East is not what they expected after 16 games.

I agree. You bring in a high profile coach to turn your team around and you fire him 16 games in? There has to be more to this than his coaching style. Maybe some difference of opinion on direction with the front office?

Lecavalier is the face of that franchise and if he's unhappy, of course managament will rather fire the coach. The whole situation sucks for Melrose, say what you want about how he handled his players, but he deserved to be treated better. I hope this wasn't a case of Lecavalier whining to office about ice time and thus getting Melrose fired.

Rangers lose one shoot-out, but win another over the weekend. They also allowed another short-handed goal- too many this season. They need to get control of the whole game and not have a slow start and rely on tying things up with less than a minute to go like they've been doing.

Not that it hasn't been working for them so far, being #1 in the East, but that can change quickly.

So, Devils finally catch a break and Clemmenson gets his win against Washington in the shootout. He became Marty for those 3 shooters and somehow they didn't dominate Clemmenson as they should have. Great motivational win for the team that hopefully kicks them into gear.

Just sucks that their next game isn't until Thursday night.
