I'm new to this forum - a story I am sure is very familiar. So obviously my handle is based on one of my OTHER favorite fan-loves in life, the heavy metal band Iron Maiden. I've come to feel that Star Wars and Maiden have a lot in common: -Massive numbers of fans worldwide -Against the grain of the mainstream -Grand, epic visuals and narratives -Amazing music... maybe that goes without saying -A long winding behind-the-scenes history from humble beginnings to world takeover -Much passion from the principle people involved -Steve Harris is the band's George Lucas -Iron Maiden had a Star Wars-sized level of impact on the heavy metal genre There's a photograph floating around out there of two of the band members, one with drimsticks in his ears and the other holding up a flashlight, striking yoda and luke poses... but I can't find it. And now for your amusement, consideration, or both: a Maiden/Wars mashup I found upon cursory search of the tubes: Who's out there?
Welcome to the Forum, Darth Eddie! Glad to have you onboard, and hope you enjoy your time here! I'll admit I'm not an Iron Maiden fan so probably shouldn't say anything, but my love for 'Star Wars' compensates, and I like your observations - the link runs deeper than expected! Hace fun here, and just shout if you need any help or some direction around this place!
I imagine my brother is into this, but alas I am not. Welcome to the boards though and if you have any questions, please by all means ask me, happy to help if I can.
Thanks for the welcoming committee! I'll up the irons in your names. \m/ PS that Trooper picture is great. I might make it my avatar someday
Welcome aboard. A big heavy metal/rock'n'roll fan here, Maiden included. And that image Jedi General Gelderd is something that I'll have to redraw myself and print out as a T-shirt, it's too damn awesome.
I wouldn't put a little smuggling past Bruce Dickinson and his piloting skills. Perhaps he's the Han Solo of Metal?
The guy already does a little bit of everything, making the Kessel run in his plane is certainly not off limits.
Bruce Dickinson, Captain of Flight 666. Eddie here tells me you're looking for passage to the Alderaan System. ...come to think of it a whole lot of maiden songs are about flying.
That's a damn good idea. When I get some free time and put down a few sketches on that time, I'll send em your way.
Welcome aboard, Darth Eddie! I'm absolutely a Maiden fan. Nice to see another one join the ranks here. What's your favorite album of theirs? Mine is their first.
That's too hard a question, man. I love the 3 albums Clive Burr drummed on, rest his soul... My guts want to say it's Killers. (looks left at avatar; it's the Killers cover) okay I swear I didn't do that on purpose. But I love every era of the band in a different way... except for the 90's stuff I guess is a little eehh.
Welcome Darth Eddie! I have been a Maiden fan for many, many years and have had the pleasure of seeing them in concert a couple times. They are great on album but even better live in my opinion.
