I've been trying to find this commercial for some time now and given up several times, but harpuah's post in the macho thread made me think of it again. How many of you remember a Taco Bell commercial from the mid-1990s that was basically a parody of those commercials advertising the "greatest hits" compilation CDs? The Taco Bell ad had parodies of songs like "My Sharona" and "Mach Man". I remember it scrolling through a list of fake songs while the music played: "Taco, taco, taco man! I want to be a taco man!" "Sour cream. I want you to top my taco, can't you see?" "Ma ma ma my tomato!" This commercial would have aired sometime in '94, '95 or maybe '96. I remember because I knew this guy in high school who would blurt out the "ma ma ma my tomato" part at random times. I have literally spent tens of minutes searching for this commercial on Youtube, but to no avail. Colors to whoever finds it and posts a link in this thread.
Seriously, Taco Bell did two separate "My Sharona" parodies? I assumed you just remembered the commercial wrong, which is a fairly common occurrence. (I didn't remember it either. But I typed "taco bell my" and it suggested "taco bell my chalupa.")
No, that is definitely not it. I wouldn't be surprised if I'm mis-remembering parts of this commercial, but it definitely had multiple song parodies in it and one of them was "My Tomato".
lol. No. Extra Credit: Find the old Enchirito Rap commercial with the 4 guys sitting in the booth doing the a cappella enchirito rap (the black & white commercial of them singing another enchirito song is pretty easy to find). The rap starts off with the guy saying "My name is David, my friends call me G".
One hungry young boy I be I'm cool like a penguin, in a tuxedo So please hook me up with my gooey enchirito. (For some reason I can't explain, I will never forget the words to that as long as I live)
well, i guess it's not on the internet right now so maybe instead we can post links to other taco bell commercials that make us feel funny inside. like this one
I don't really remember that commercial. And the one I'm thinking of definitely was "Taco Man". So many people seem to know the lyrics to that enchirito rap. I can't believe nobody's posted that video on youtube. Here's the other enchirito commercial with the same guys. Apparently David is a bass.
