Help me: Mara Jade's Illness

Is how she contracted the illness actual covered in any books or comic books other than the overview provided in Vector Prime and Balance Point?

She got the disease in Vector Prime, near the beginning

 

No, she contracted it sometime before VP, during some sort of gathering where Nom Anor was present. But I can't remeber what it was...

 

I think it was at Monor II. I believe she got it from the breath masks they used in the outdoor ceremony

 

To answer your question, No, it doesn't take place in any existing comic or book.

Is it just me or does it seem cheap/makes you feel cheated to have something as important as the events surrounding Mara contracting the illness not even covered.

I know when I read VP, it threw me for a loop that Mara was sick.

This is nothing new, just some timeframe sources:

1) Elaine Cunningham's short story, "The Crystal"

Jaina become's Mara's apprentice; Mara doesn't have the coomb spore illness yet.

2) Kathy Tyers' novel "Balance Point"

Background details. We learn Mara, along with several others, became infected with the coomb spores at the Ascension Ceremony of Sunesi Priest-Prince, Agagos XI, on Monor II shortly before the events of Vector Prime.

3) R.A. Salvatore's novel "Vector Prime"

Mara Jade is already infected with the coomb spores at the beginning of this novel.

But as already pointed out above - I believe by Wild Karrde - we have no story specifically AND only detailing this event.

 

What Ana said is really it: There is no specific story detailing the event, instead bits of info are given in both VP and BP; together they really tell you all you need to know. There shouldn't be any Q's left after the info in BP is known.

I felt overall that her illness was a pretty lame story-arc, because I never really felt she was in any sort of real danger from succumbing to it. Never had the sense that she was in any real sort of jeopardy.
