    Well, I've been finding out all sorts of interesting Jim Henson Company related goodness after researching the Dark Crystal sequel.

    There's a new movie Mirrormask coming out in a few months;

    "The story idea grew out of conversations about a possible sequel to Henson's 1986 feature "Labyrinth"."

    So while not a true sequel to Labyrinth, it's a Henson Co. film in a similar vein.

    Official site here;

    http://www.sonypictures.com/movies/mirrormask/index.html

    According to some reports it seems like the movie may only be screened at festivals and arthouse cinemas initially. A general release then dependant on how it fares. Though now it's been picked up by Sony Pictures, looks like it will get a proper promotional push. :)

    Good news! However, I just can't see something Labyrinthesque without David Bowie...

    I disagree. I liked Labyrinth and all, but... it's a Gaiman/McKean movie. *nerdgasm*

    I want to see it just because I love Neil Gaiman's work. I have no idea what the movie is about or anything. :p

    2005 is very weird...a Willie Wonka remake, a Narnia Chronicles movie, and now this? It's like my childhood all over again.

    Pretty soon, I'm going to be sleeping in jammies with the feet attached, and riding my Big Wheel everywhere.

    Now try listening to it without pictures, and report back on how the two experiences differed.

    You know, Tom? I've just realized it somehow reminded me of that Scream Club videoclip, that's why it felt so familiar.

    And of the Sandman cover art, of course, but that was a given...

    lol, i just can't listen because i'm at work silly rabbi.

    edit: indeed dave, you're right. incidentally giles has another video online now, baby stout - "good clean fun" (very large file - 52mb). check out zoonbats.com for more of his artwork.

    edit2: i just realized that you're obviously refering to "sandman" the gaiman comic, but it's strange because giles also designed this:

    I'm really looking forward to the release of this, especially since I got to see the press release package. Gaiman was out here doing a promotional tour for both Mirrormask and Anansi Boys, so I got to hear 2 separate readings from Anansi Boys, talk to him for a little bit (the book signing I went to had only about 40 people which Neil loved because it was more than sign-next-sign-next), and he talked through the promo stuff including some funny tales both about the package itself, and the processes of getting Mirrormask and Beowulf into production.

    This movie will be neat, most likely. Labyrinth is of course a classic. I thought of the CG was a bid odd in the trailer. Hmmm. We'll see!
