    If you have a frozen planet like Hoth, the temperature must be too low for evaporation for snow on the ground means that the water is trapped in the form of ice. If there's no spring thaw, there's no evaporation right? So if there's no evaporation, there's minimal moisture in the atmosphere, so therefore it doesn't snow. Where did the snowstorm come from when Luke was wandering about in the open?

    I like Hoth.

    You can sublime ice directly into water vapor. Also, maybe the whole planet isn't *so* cold, and the equator heats up more during the year, allowing melting.

    Well, thats it. ESB is no longer the #1 Star Wars movie. TPM just got bumped up a spot.

    Yeah, when I see those laser swords and mile long spaceships, I won't be able to get my mind off how unrealistic the Ice Planet is.

    Never mind the snow, what about the Wampa and Taun-tauns. They can't possibly be real.

    Hoth has a very short food chain. The tauntauns eat moss that grows inside the ice caverns, and the wampas eat the tauntauns.

    Did somebody just say TPM was better than ESB?

    Hoth might be unrealistic, yeah; Star Wars might be far-fetched, but calling TPM better than ESB is just ridiculous!! :)

    LOL. You guys.

    You argue until you are blue in the fingers about stupid shyte like who's Chewbacca's uncle's cousin's butler's sister, but jump on me for suggesting that an ice planet wouldn't work.

    Brown_Shoe is right. Water can be sumlimated directly into water vapor. Therefore, you can get precipitation on Hoth. Equatorial melting is also a good theory. I think that there must be hot springs (like those in Iceland) somewhere on the planet as well, those would produce nutrients for the moss, steam for the precipitation, and a beautiful natural spa for the occasional hidden Rebel base.

    Ice planets don't work very well. All the ones I've hired are total slackers.

    Just threaten 'em with a lighter or a flame thrower, they'll jump to and start working. Take it from experience. :)

    Star Wars is so unrealistic.

    Now, is that how you really feel? You know, for every negative thing you say, you have to make 5 positive affirmations.

    Go ahead, I'm counting. 8-}

    It could have just been blowing snow, kicked up by fierce winds.

    Good point, Antarctica is technically a desert, it gets less precipitation than just about anywhere on Earth, but the snow blowing around can make it look like it's snowing.
