In the Corellian trilogy, they keep mentioning how Centerpoint Station is so big. They are all in awe at it. Did they forget about the Death Star and all. They all act like they've never seen anything so big. I know the book mentions its about 300 Km across but is it bigger than DeathStar. Why are they so in shock? GreatAroo
IIRC, I read somewhere that it was larger than the first Death Star, but that doesn't seem right to me. In ANH, Han is shocked by the size of the Death Star ("It's too big to be a space station"). But being from Corellia, he would have at least heard of Centerpoint and its size, so he wouldn't be so surprised at the DS's size. Did Han go to Talus or Tralus in the HS trilogy, cause I seem to remember something like that? If so, than he would have almost definately seen Centerpoint.
Centerpoint is indeed bigger than the Death Star. And yes, Han would be surprised to see a space station that big right next to Aldeeran b/c he thought that noone currently in the galaxy was capable of buildling something as big as Centerpoint. Noone in the GFFA knows who built Centerpoint, and Han wouldn't think it possible to replicate the feat.
Centerpoint is about 300km long. I think. I read somewhere that the first Death Star was about 120km in diameter. DS II was bigger at about 160km.
Also keep in mind that we seem to be discussing length vs diameter. Centerpoint was had up of a sphere between two rods, though I don't think the sphere was bigger than the DSI.
