First of all, let me say I love Legacy, it is my favourite part of the EU ever...but how the hell did Cade ever kill Darth Krayt?? Krayt was trained as a Jedi and Sith with almost 200 years experience and had learned more force techniques than almost anyone, he even effortlessly learned Cade's best trick of finding the shatterpoints in someone to heal or kill them! He had got rid of his Vong affliction and was now back to his most powerful. Cade, while undoubtedly having massive potential, is still largely untrained.

The only way I could see Cade killing Krayt was by sacrificing his own life to take him out. But he didn't even need to do that...and then the whole thing with Krayt warning Cade that he will recover was ridiculous...he wasn't daft enough to warn Wyyrlok that he would return after Wyyrlok 'killed' him, but suddenly after Cade 'kills' him he decides to make sure Cade knows that he needs to finish him off permanently, just in case he didn't already know...

Don't get me wrong, I am actually glad that Cade survived in the end as it means he might return in some future stories, and I know it was hard to pack so much story into the 6 War issues, but the way Krayt went out in the end was anti-climactic to say the least. Hopefully there will be books in the future on this era that enable John to go into more detail than was allowed in the comic format...

There is no good answer. The only answer is, the author wanted Cade to win, and Krayt to lose. Why did Obi-Wan beat Maul? Why did Harry beat Voldemort? Why did the tortoise beat the hare? Seriously, you ever see how slow turtles move? Rabbits are like super fast. How could a turtle possibly compete in a speed race? Mind-boggling.

This is adequately explained in the story itself. [face_shame_on_you]:p

Oh, don't even get me started on how bad the ending to Harry Potter is... though the series itself isn't much better [face_batting]

Anyway, there are a lot of times in Star Wars where a character beats someone far stronger (at the time). Kyle Katarn beating Jerec, Quinlan Vos beating Sora Bulq, Jaden Korr beating Marka Ragnos, Obi-Wan beating Darth Maul, Starkiller beating Vader, and on and on. Will of the force, or something; probably allows a persons potential power to come out. In Cade's case, he's a Skywalker. He was probably able to briefly realize his potential when fighting Krayt.

I've yet to read Legacy, though.

That too is explained in the text. Whether you like it or not is another thing.

THIS. Especially if you read and took the final issue at face value....

Wyyrlock, I can see and understand the desire to keep the fight short... but in duplicating his death, it robbed Krayt of having a unique ending. It was a letdown, seeing Krayt die so unceremoniously, even after they flew his corpse into the nearest sun.

    Fear.

Fear of Maul having a secret brother, from a different planet.

    Only one?

And for those who don't understand, Cade beaing Krayt is in the crossover they did. But while Cade killed Krayt, do you really think death would stop a Sith as powerful as Lord Krayt?

Did we read the same comic SSS? Sure, Krayt's body was down, his spirit certainly wasn't! Hence the sun trip.

    That isn't my issue, JB.

Krayt's first death in Vector, then Wyyrlock's demise and Krayt's final death in WAR were all EX-tremely similar. Carbon copies, even.

The ability to destroy a planet is insignificant next to the power of the plot.

I?d have to respectfully disagree about Krayt?s death. I think we talked about this over in the issue discussion thread, but Krayt v. Cade was never about the physical fight. It couldn?t be. Krayt squashed Cade and had him on the ground on his back at the brink of death in less than one page. He was clearly superior in a fight.

The ONLY reason Cade survived was because Krayt was more interested in turning Cade to the Dark Side than destroying him. If Krayt had kept fighting instead of stopping to show Cade his vision and have a conversation with him about his destiny, Cade would be toast.

How was Cade able to pick up his lightsaber and turn around and stab Krayt through the heart? Honestly, I think Krayt actually believed that Cade was going to turn and was simply caught off guard. I can see how that could be perceived as anti-climactic or ?carbon copy? if you?re just looking at the blows being traded, but that fight was mental/psychological and Cade won by sheer determination to be a Jedi and not to succumb to Krayt?s vision/plan for him.

    That's my 2 credits, anyway.

Under that light Trace, Krayt's death is identical to Wyyrlock's.

Both were mind-battles that ended in torso-impalement.

The only REAL difference is in the number of sabers used to cause the smoking holes.

You could see it as proof that despite Krayt killing Wyrrlokk, both suffer from the same fatal flaw: Arrogance, thus as it killed Wyrrlokk so too does it Krayt.

While I can certainly appreciate the Quod Sum Eris aspect of their Maul-esque demises, I feel like the conclusion to the arc for Hett deserved a little something more.

Krayt was careless. He thought he was some immortal God-King who could never die. He wasn't at the top of his game, he didn't want to kill Cade, he got careless in his duel and Cade owned him.

What Krayt didn't count on was Cade throwing him into a sun. Krayt had no plan for that scenario. If Krayt knew Cade would've thrown him into the sun I bet the duel would've ending with Krayt victorious.

But as always evil loses because evil was to concerned with showing off.

Cade sat down, read a history book and realized that if he cancelled his series early, he'd have to win. Smart fellow, that one.

Yes, but after Krayt had healed himself he no longer had any need for Cade, so why was he risking everything trying to turn him to the dark side? When he talks about 'turning to dust' and 'becoming Cade' I assume he is talking about essence transfer. But isn't it already established that the stronger the will of the host the harder it is to take them over? And I assume you retain your original force powers in your new body, so why the need for a host who is already strong in the force anyway?

Seems like it's the same old story...the only way to kill off an evil genius is to suddenly turn them into an idiot...
