How did the Bugs Bunny/Elmer Fudd feud begin?

I was having a discussion with people at lunch today, as to how it began. I won't tell you the rumour I heard, because you'll never look at Bugs the same again.

I heard Elmer was out in the woods one night, camping. He was minding his own business when Bugs came and completely ruined his camp. After that, Elmer swore he would have his revenge against the wascally wabbit. So, Bugs started it all.

 

I heard it was because Bugs threw Elmer through a barbershop window.

 

I don't think Bugs and Elmer are enemies. They have a friendly rivarly going. They're really the best of friends. I mean, they've been working together for more than 50 years!

 

For some reason I am thinking of that scene in Deliverence with the mountian men. Of course Ned Beatty would be Elmer and the mountain men would be Bugs.

I don't think friends try to murder eachother. Elmer has tried repeatedly to kill Bugs, and Bugs has often retailiated. (ex: tying his gun into a bow so that it blows up in his face when he shoots)

 

Their rivalry always was from the time they were born. Apparently you people have never seen that cartoon. Go watch more TV.

But then it turned out that Mrs. Fudd and Mrs. Bunny were really Bugs and Elmer in drag. Now everytime they see each other, the shame they feel throws each of them into a homicidal rage that can only be sated by bathing in the other's still warm blood and making a hoodie out of their flesh.

well one reason is because its Wabbit Season. every season Bugs humiliates Fudd causing the mentaly disturbed Fudd to go haywire and try to murder the poor wabbit
