    Please, God, not these again. Nooooooooo!

    It is like Jason. Just with a funky sci-fi re-wording.

    Jacken? Someone's smoking too much.

    Although when I was 14, I was guilty of pronouncing Karrde as "Card-ay". :D

    Jason. I thought Jacken at first too. I now kinda compromised and gone with Jasen. Its either Jason or Jasen in the audio books too.

    I've always pronounced it "Jah-sehn" I like the "ah" sound better, because Jason sounds a bit too earth like, but apparently it's Jason. I still keep calling him "Jah-sehn" because it's what I've called him since his character was first introduced. I can't get it out of my head. Just like I call Hermione from Harry Potter "Hermy-own" instead of "Her-my-oh-nee".

    How it's pronounced really comes down to how you interpret it yourself in the novel. If you read it as Jaken, Jay-sun, Jason, Jah-sen or Mary-Sue, it doesn't really matter. IMHO.

    Jacen=Jason
    Kyp=Kip
    Viqi=Vicki (or Vicky sometimes)

    Just a way of making the names feel different than they are so they feel less "earthy".

    Well, judging that Star Wars books aren't written in latin (to the best of my knowledge), i say it's pronounced JAY-SIN.

    Are there actual real life people with the name Kip? Were their parents on crack when they named them? Were Kyp's parents on glitterstim when they named him? The universe will never know. . .

    Jacen= Jason

    the E makes the A long and makes the C an S sound.

    It's grammatically correct!

    I prononce it similar to Jason. However I go with "Jay-cean" I just pronunce it with more of a "c" noise if that isn't obvious enough.Can this thread be expanded into how to prononce things in general, or should that be a different thread altogether?

    How about Face's last name, Loran? It's probably supposed to be "Laur- Ann" but I usually pronounce it Lauren, possibly because my sister is name that.

    The 'c' in Jacen is soft, so it has an 's' sound to it, unlike the double 'c' in Bocci, which has a 'ch' sound it. I don't think it's a hard 'c' like Concoct, where the 'c' has a harder 'k' sound to it. Thus, it's pronounced like Jason.
