how does obi-wan leave his ship on upatau?

forgive me profusely if this has been posted before....i've done a serach and of course, it came up with nearly every possible word for the query....

anyhow, when obi-wan leaves his ship on upatau, trying to fool grievous and his troops that he "left," i notice it's a quick sequence of him getting the ship "fueled," and then BAM, the ship leaves and you see him above hiding.

how and when did he jump out so fast? maybe this is a minor detail but every time i watch it, it puzzles me.

 

**Waves hand** You did see Obi-wan get in his ship.

**Waves hand** Then he left Utapau in the ship.

**Waves hand** Move along.

 

I thought he had R4-G9 (his droid) pilot it up without him in it, while he hid at his leisure. If it seems rushed, it's just the way they cut the film.

 

Obi-wan gave his order to R4-G9 and then using the Force to enhance his speed, got out of the ship and went inside where he couldn't be seen. We just didn't see it as the view was supposed to be from the point of view of the Magnaguard and the Super Battle Droids.

 

droids can fly ships by themselves

 

ah see i KNEW droids could fly by themeslves (ob-wan's does pretty much all the flying for him anyhow), i just didn't think about obi-wan upping his speed to go hide.

Anyway, it was filmed a little confusing. The funniest thing I have seen said about this part was in a similar thread on here. Someone thought that shot of Obi-Wan with his hood up watching the ship fly away was actually Qui-Gon popping in to see what Obi-wan was up to.

If Lucas was going to show Force Speed, I would think he would it done it convincingly like with a blur or something. I just think Obi-Wan slipped over the far side of the ship and then crouched down like a refueler and sneaked away into the darkness.

 

I never thought of Obi-Wan using the force to enhance his speed, that's a good explanation.

 

My lord how these forums have devolved into drivel. Drat and boulderdash...hmmmlet's see we don't see how Obi Wan gets up there...does that really matter? We don't need to know, it's like the droid army thing did we se Anakin turn it off? No did he...well yes because we don;t see a droid army in the OT, and even if he didn;t someone obviously did. Why does everyone need every detail explained, what in the heck happened to the imagination...rant over.

 

Well, everyone has a different imagination. In this thread we had a few different opinions on what happened in this scene. I like to use my imagination, but I like to see what other people's imaginations came up with too. It is the nature of the forums.

yea well i was curious what other people's insights on it were so i asked.

it's just one of the things that stick out to me when i watch the movie, and i figured i'd give it a try and ask what other people's thoughts were on the forums. i honestly just thought it might have been something i missed.

 

Obi-Wan has methods of moving about without being seen...as demonstrated in Episode II on Geonosis, in Episode IV sneaking around the Death Star...and in Episode III sneaking aboard Padme's ship.

Genious move by Lucas to showcase Obi's sneaking around in the Prequels.

 

I don't know if he used Force-speed or not.

I just looked at it as one of those film moments like when you see the character in the car, then you see the car go over the edge of the cliff...

...then later, you realize that the character actually managed to get out of the vehicle before it took the plunge.

Obi-wan did a tactical roll off of his starfighter and had his astrodroid fly the ship back to the star destroyer over the planet and tell Cody to attack.
