I read Thrawn triology recently and I found out there is a Hand of Thrawn Duology is it worth the read or/and buy.
Definitely read it. I think it's better than the trilogy, but read it for yourself before you buy it.
My first post back after two weeks overseas! I think its definately worth the read. As I've said in other threads on the same topic, if you read any of the bantam books, this nicely wraps up that era and sets the EU on the course for what would become the NJO. I think they are well written, I personally feel that it surpasses Zahn's earlier trilogy. But thats for you to decide. And decide you will. Because now you're going to run out and buy it!
It's a great duology. Definitely read it, if you've read The Thrawn Trilogy. It also sets up the NJO.
It's a brilliant two books, especially Vision of the Future. Specter of the Past is also well written, and they're both by Timothy Zahn, one of the best authors of the EU so far. You really don't need to have read too many of the prior books to get this, except the Thrawn trilogy, which you have. If you enjoyed that, then you'll definitely love these two. Horn out
Its finishes of a few storylines of the trilogy and expands on the best characters. Its good but not brilliant.
If 700 page books are your thing, and you're partial to Zahn's writing style, then it's definitely for you. I very much liked the duology, as I found it to be fantastically written. Naturally, you have to like Zahn's characters and style though. It's a matter of preference. Regardless, I recommend them.
Yes read them. In fact VOTF was my first Star Wars book. Like they said, it helps set up the state of the galaxy right at the begining of the great ness that is the New Jedi Order.
I thought the Hand of Thrawn Duology was pretty good, and it helped set the secne for the NJO by showing a highly volatile and unstable New Republic that gets riled up very easily...
? I detected a note of cynicism in that last post, A_V_P . That, and subsequent events, demonstrated that perfectly well and beyond doubt. The NR's government was volatile.
I can afford to be cynical, that story line was a little close to home. But the story device was good. It just became an excuse for conflict, and it was such a volatile issue that no-one even listened to the victims.
