Also were there audio tapes made for the other two Thrawn books or just for Heir to the Empire?

Never heard it but I've heard many of the early 90's audiobooks. They mostly suck. So much is cut out and the actors or "announcers" that read the books are flat or they sound like they're reading sports scores. The audiobooks don't really sound half decent until the NJO and the Clone Wars stuff on.

Yes. Heir was read by Denis Lawson (Wedge) while the other two were ready by Anthony Daniels (C-3P0).

I'd have to disagree. Considering the average length of a book and the average space devoted to two two-sided tapes, I think they managed to do pretty well. And considering most of the books were read by Anthony Heald (who was generally awesome), I'd have to disagree with you that they "mostly suck". In fact, I'd say they were "mostly awesome."

Actually, I'd say that it was around here when the audio books started to, in your words, "mostly suck."

Oh come on, Mani, they're not that bad. And they're useful for getting through some of the, uh, less desirable books. True, the Bantam books had more cut out than the early Del Rey ones, but just look at Star by Star...

Kendo: There are audios of almost every SW novel out there, especially the Bantams. Denis Lawson (Wedge) narrated Heir to the Empire and Anthony Daniels (Threepio) narrated Dark Force Rising and The Last Command.

EDIT: TIEPilot beat me to it!

I'm just not crazy about Anthony Herald. Should I have not used the word suck? Whatever. I tend to like the Mark Thompson and Johnathan Davis stuff. Better voice work IMO.

And yeah, they are okay for books like Truce at Bakura, Courtship of Princess Leia and Children of the Jedi but I'd rather read the really good ones.

Pretty cool with Denis Lawson doing voice over narrating for the Heir to the Empire Trilogy audio book tapes. Who cares if it would be boring to listen to him talk without any emotion or whatever. Back then in the 1990s when Heir to the Empire came out the audiobook tape that was in Waldebooks and B Dalton they were like 30 freakin bucks or even up to 40 bucks.

I like the unabridged ones. Sooo boring, but man I loved them. I used to listen to them at work.

You can buy all 3 of them on iTunes, but they are the abridged versions, and ALOT is cut out. Denis Lawson's and Anthony Daniels' voices take a bit to get used to (especially the former's), but I've sat through way worse.

I too prefer the newer ones by Jonathan Davis and Marc Thompson. A lot less is cut out and they are even making the FOTJ in unabridged versions.
