Is it "Zee-zor" or "Chee-zor" or neither?

    Sheezor.

We have to bear in mind that's an American version, though. Baked Vader knows why they're pronouncing Kun as Koon. Regardless, I've always called the slut Zeezor.

It's not an American version, Ex, it's an "official" version. [face_peace]

Anyway, yeah, it's "Sheezor." The X is pronounced like a "sh" in the style of Chinese and Mesoamerican native languages.

The book actually helps with the pronunciation of it as his form chair mispronounces his name Shhheeeeeeeeeeeeezzzzzzooor or something, elongating the sound

I once downloaded a voice program to hear my book read to me. Trial copy wasn't hot, but hearing that American voice read my prose was hilarious. It's rough and primative, though, I farewelled it. I did find a site that pronounces any word you type in. I finally know how to say ex dues machina. It even said profanity.

Would it help if you pronounced it "deus ex machina"?
Guys in my high school used to turn the speakers all the way up on the library computers and make those sorts of websites say awful things about passing professors.

That's it. "Ex ma kina," it's called. People like to speak french to appear exotic, apparently. Why say noir when you can simply say dark? Dramatis Personae. Do you say sauce the way you say Sauron? Of course not. [face_not_talking]

I pronounce it Ksizor, and I don't care if the official pronunciation is different.

Actually, the official answer is that it's pronounced like X in Portugese. In any case, it's still a "sh" sound.

The only place I ever heard "Koon" was in KOTOR. I dunno who was in charge there, but they were an idiot. Every other source I ever saw had it rhyming with "fun" not sounding like a racial slur.

Deus ex machina is latin. As is dramatis personae.
    Nice try though!

I believe it was NEGTC that established "Koon", alas...

The audiobooks of Jedi Academy pronounced it "Koon" too.

"Twas always thus, and always thus shall be..."

And it is "Sheezor" though when I first read it, I pronounced it "Zeezor"

Though I also pronounced Coruscant "KorusKant"...stupid me.

I don't give a damn how to pronounce anything anymore. It's Zee-zor and K-uhn in my book, and the only way I might change that would be if I hear the names correctly pronounced 50 times in say, a computer game or movie. But that ain't gonna happen.

I don't care about how official this is but I always always said "Cheese-or" and then made fun of the fact he was a green alein. (Green cheese from the moon.)

    Wait, what?

How the hell would an American get "Sheezor" out of that? The "X" is a "Z" sound so it should be "Zizor". We manage to pronounce Xerox right, I don't see how we could muck up Xizor.

Looking below someone says that's an official pronounciation...which seems more than a bit...odd.

"official" is certainly subjective, but the name has been "heard" in products that were licensed, so I guess it kinda goes that way.

Again I point out Coruscant...pronunciation is always debatable...but if we hear it via something from the source, it shouldn't be discounted.

Believe it, don't believe it, the issue of Xizor's name officially being pronounced "Sheezor" was dealt with in the long defunct Star Wars Galaxy magazine. I still have the copy of that magazine which focused on SotE.
