JCC How long does it take you to solve the brick wall optical illusion?

Saw it the other day. About 45 seconds to a minute. Hard to unsee once seen.

 

Had seen the illusion a couple days ago and after a few minutes, just closed the page not having found it. Must be the bigger picture here because it jumped right out when I opened the thread.

 

I googled the answer

 

Ohhh good one. Took me a while.

 

What's the illusion?

This is the first time I've seen the pic, and if it is what I think it is, I saw it immediately. I actually looked for an extra thirty seconds thinking there must be something else to it.

 

Dress looks blue to me.

 

I looked at it for about five seconds, assumed it was a trick and everyone was playing along, and googled it. I may not be good at optical illusions, but I'm great at cynicism.

I thought it was some kind of Tortoise.

 

I made myself unsee it!

I stared at the cigar ash, and out the corner of my eye the....shaft looked like part of the bricks.

Wow, I did not see that. And I was looking right at that particular area of the picture too because I was kind of sure it had to be in that area somewhere because . . . well, you know why. But I did not see it. That's crazy.

And I was able to unsee it by staring at . . . that one spot and kind of letting my eyes unfocus. As soon as I moved them to look at something else in the picture though it popped right out.

 

It has taken me five years, but I think I have finally cracked it.
