Well, how many stormtroopers does it take to exchange a lightbulp?

    [face_plain]
    'kay, that one was stupid.

Well, I don't know. It obviously takes about one thousand battle droids (depends on the Jedi, some survive even this amount). Stormtroopers should be better - but by which degree?

I don't know. Let's cut all communications down there, or something like that.

Well, since and entire Legion of the Emperor's best troops were lost to a legion of furry pets....

    I'd say it'd take four legions of the Empire's best troops to take down NJO Luke. 8-}

no that many one of the shots would get through and kill the jedi, my guess is it is between 100 and 200 to kill a jedi maybe more for a master like luke

What I still don't understand: If size matters not, then what's the big idea?

Seriously, why couldn't either Qui-Gon or Obi-Wan have gone out on the field instead of the Gungan army, then used the force to hurl all those "boomer" ball thingies at the droids, and then used the force to crush whatever droids remained into a lump of scrap metal? That way, it could've been Maul vs. the Gungan Armys and a Jedi. Seriously.

Really, though, one intelligent Stormtrooper sniper should be able to take a Jedi.

Yes, but if he was cool and calm and not nervous, and if there were other people about, the Jedi would have no reason to suspect anything.

Less than 100. Basing this off of the Prequel movies.

Two Droidekas were able to standoff two Jedis. A Jedi Master and a Jedi Padawan.

Less then a 100 Battledroids, Droidekas, and Super Battledroids were able to kill a majority of the Jedi on Genosia. And it took the clone troopers to rescue the rest of them.

As for the Battle of Endor, the Imperials had a disadvantage against the Ewoks.

    1) The Ewoks know the terrain better.
    2) Ewoks could blend in with the forest better than Stormtroopers
    3) The Ewoks also had rebel support. Making it difficult for Imperials to decide which is the bigger threat. The Spear welding Ewok or the Blaster armed Rebel sabotuer? Because of that, the Ewoks were able to take advantage.
    4) The Ewoks had rebel support period. If the rebels were not involved, the Ewoks would have most likely been slaughtered in the long run. Notice that the tide changed when Chewbacca was able to get command of a AT-ST. And that Han Solo impersonated a Scout Commander to get inside the bunker.

Furthermore, only about ten or less Imperials came out to support the "non-existant" task force. They were surrounded by rebels with blasters and a horde of ewoks on top of the bunker. If the rebels weren't there with the blasters, the Imperials would have scattered and killed the Ewoks. But then again if the Rebels weren't there, the Ewoks wouldn't have gotten that far to begin with.

Yea, but remember the Ewoks were THROWING rocks at the stormies. I remember one scene the ewoks hurtling rocks off of a large fallen tree down at stormtroopers. The stormtroopers were just cowering there, when they could have turned up and been shooting at those ewoks. The stormtroopers were just inefficient.

And Mastadge, a Stormtrooper Sniper? Isn't not being able to aim while shooting part of the job descriptions for being a Stormtrooper? :D

Actually the stormtroopers were walking under the fallen tree just as the Ewoks dumped LARGE HEAVY rocks on top of their heads.

I would like to see you try and shoot after having a rock fall on your head.

And Mastadge, a Stormtrooper Sniper? Isn't not being able to aim while shooting part of the job descriptions for being a Stormtrooper?

The stormtroopers are actually good marksmen as proven in ANH, ESB, and ROTJ. It is in the novels that suddenly turns them into buffons.

Obi-wan Kenobi remarks on the accuracy of stormtroopers in ANH.

In ESB, they shot up C-3PO. They hit the Millenium Falcon even as it was escaping. They did kill rebels inside the base.

In ROTJ, they did kill several rebels and ewoks. A scout trooper was able to shoot both Luke and Leia off of their speeder bikes. A scout trooper was even able to SHOOT and FLY a speeder bike at the same time. He only missed because Leia saw in time and reacted properly.

Keep in mind, live targets do not stand still. So the accuracy of a shot is reduced.

I would add AOTC, but those are clones and not the modern stormtroopers.

Mitth is right on a lot of things.

However, it should be noted that AOTC should be taken into consideration because those were the early StormTroopers. Anyways, information taken from several interviews and such with George Lucas has revealed that StormTroopers only loose when the story requires them too. That's why they never kill the heroes of the story, because the heroes aren't supposed to die. However, all other times, they are the elite fighting force they're supposed to be. I got this at the www.starwarsgalaxies.com boards where some guy posted a lot of information including links to some of his resources if you want to check it out for yourself.

However, to kill a Jedi, it would take only one very skilled Storm Trooper, and two mediocre ones. The two would need only to manuever the Jedi into a cross-fire. With only one lightsaber, the Jedi would not deflect two different blaster bolts from two different directions aimed at two different areas of his body. Thus, the Jedi dies.

As for the one Storm Trooper, it can be assumed that a blaster rifle can fire as fast as the shooter pulls his finger, so the trooper would only have to fire two, very quick shots to different areas of the Jedi and one will penetrate the Jedi's defense.

E-11 is what we call an automatic rifle. You can just hold down the trigger and a burst of blaster fire will repeatedly emmit from the weapon or until the carbine is empty.

The Repeater Blaster Rifle is a TRI barrel and a automatic. Because of its three barrels it has a faster firing rate then a E-11.

The Heavy Repeater Blaster Rifle is what the Sandtroopers use in ANH and the Sandtrooper action figure has. This is a more powerful weapon then the E-11.

A Jedi can only block as many bolts as they are capable. Too many shots to block and they will lose. Hence why so many died at the Battle of Genosia.

As for the number of droids at the Arena Battle, it is not in the thousands. They wouldn't fit if that many. Maybe a couple hundred. But still, less then a 100 Stormtroopers can kill a Jedi.

Jedi are NOT omnipotent beings. They can die.

Here is another example. A group of Peace Brigaders were able to kill a Rodian Jedi. I do not recall which NJO novel it was in, but it is the one where Tahari and Anakin defy Corran Horn's orders to stay behind while he did something.

Several Jedi have died at the hands of Yuuzhan Vong in combat. Several Jedi were even captured by regular civilians and by Peace Brigaders.

Obi-wan Kenobi was at a stalemate with Jango Fett during the Duel At Kamino.

Dooku announced that there were 1000 battle droids in the Arena.

    1000 Droids to 202 Jedi..

About 5 Battle Droids per Jedi.

But what about Super-Battle Droids and Droidekas. Not to mention the Reek and Acklay, before Obi-Wan and Jango finished them off...

Jedi numbers are shot down to about 40.

But none of this has anything to do with stormtroopers, does it.
