How old do you have to be to work at Blockbuster??

I wanna get a job there, but I don't know the minimum age to work there.

Anyone work there? How old you gotta be?

I'm pretty sure the age is 16, I had friends that worked there in High School. Of course, that doean't rule out the fact that a particular store manager, might prefer older employees(18+) because of the late hours.

Job seems so easy, and you get free game and vid rentals I think.

Seriously go in and ask to talk to the manager if one is available and say youre interested in getting a job there and get an application.

 

Really, really old. 75 or older.

And you MUST wear Depends while on the job.

And you MUST soil them.

 

Plus you must have no knowledge of film. Hate working with people. And only order 1 copy per movie to a store.

Yea I could, but I saw a sign while driving by and decided to fill out an application on the website assuming it would tell the age, and it didn't so I wanted to ask here before I continue so I know I'm not wasting time.

 

I work at blockbuster... trust me, you don't want a job here...


but if you really want it, at most stores it's 18 but some lenient managers will let 16+ work there.

 

The 5 free movies a week is nice. I worked there for about a year, I enjoyed it.

It probably depends from state to state, because I've known people that worked there that were younger than 18 at the time.

I think it would also make a difference if it was a nationaly owned store or a franchise.

Minimum age is 17, because you have to be able to rent rated "R" movies and rated "M" games. Most stores will only hire 18 or older because of most states laws on school kids working during the school week.

Plus seriously you don't want to work there it sucks!

Plus, you're forced to sell the online rental programs or get fired after two or three missed goals.

Oh, and restocking is ***. One of my friends is a shift leader there.

He's been there for 3 years and makes 7.25$/hr.

Really? You get fired for not selling the onlines? This is news to me. But I guess I seriously stopped caring 6 months ago, when we didn't get our bonuses as promised.

And your friend is getting screwed, I'm a game advisor and I make $8.25.

If he quit and were rehired he'd make the extra cash. But he doesn't want to be jobless for two weeks.

 

The key to getting more money at Blockbuster is convincing them you have another job offering you more money. Do this at a time where you are a high valued assest to the area. They'll give you more money just to keep you around. I've not done it but I have known mangers who have done this.
