Well, if Palpatine and Sidious are one and the same, of course.

Where does it say Palpatine is younger? He seems to be, but I don't remember if there's anything stating his exact age...

And yes, they are one in the same. But let's not get into that debate. ;)

    Edit:

And if Palps is younger, it's because he's a Sith master, and Dooku was a Jedi and is fairly new at this Sith thing by comparison.

Age can very easily have nothing to do with one's skill at something.

In a case like this, age doesn't matter. Palpatine (who I believe is at least a decade younger than Dooku), is the Sith Master. Had Dooku not trained as the apprentice of Palpatine/Sidious, he never would have become a Sith, hence, age didn't matter.

Palpatine certainly has a lot more experience in dealing with the Dark Side than Dooku. That's what counts.

Well, Qui-Gon was ten years older than Palpatine, and Dooku was Qui-Gon's Master, so Dooku is definitely older than Palpatine.

Where did that come from? Just curious

I think there are many things about Palpatine we don't REALLY know. Perhaps his skill with the dark side has enabled his to disguise his true age (much like Wolverine in "X-Men")
"he could be as old as you Professor."

Regardless of the age factor, Palpatine is skilled in the ways of the SITH, where Dooku was trained as a jedi...and later adopted the teachings of the Sith. Would that make Dooku a "dark jedi"?

No. He would have adopted the sith religon under Sidious. Hence, he's the same as the original Sith lords from years prior.

However, I think he's the first turncoat in a millenia because Maul was a Sith from an early age and I'm assuming it was the same with Palpatine seen as how his mastery of the force is unknown to Yoda and Co.

I thought Palps was supposed to be in his mid-80's at the time of ROTJ which, if that's right, makes him about 65 in AOTC.

Well Dooku had been a Jedi before, so changing to the Dark Side he would need a master and Palaptine was very skilled with the dark side so Dooku became the apprentice.

It's symbolic of always being a slave while you use the dark side. You'll always be the servant no matter how old you are

Good point Jeddi_Knights, turning from the jedi way, and embracing the Sith religion, does make Dooku a self-imposed prisoner to the dark side. Something Anakin had the strength to release himself from by saving Luke from Palpatine.
