How the hell is Luke blonde if Anakin, Padme, and both of THEIR parents have brown hair too?

I just wondered this. How the hell is Luke blonde if Anakin and Padme were both brown haired! So were his grandparents. Anakin's mother was brown haired, and so were both of Padme's parents...

How the hell could that have happened?

 

Blonde hair is recessive, meaning that if your father has blonde hair and your mother has blonde hair, you will in all likelihood be blonde too. However, if your mother has blonde hair and your father has brown hair, you'll only have blonde hair if your father has one gene for blonde and another for brown hair. Two brown haired parents can have a blonde kid, if both of them carry the recessive gene for blonde. My mother has brown hair as do I, but my father and sister both have blonde hair. So as long as there was one blonde somewhere in the ancestry of both parents, and that gene had been carried invisibly through the generations, blonde hair can crop up after several dark generations.

 

Luke doesn't have blonde hair. I would say it's light brown, and so is Anakin's.

 

Actually, Anakin's hair, like Luke's, is dark blond.

Also notice how the hell is Luke's hair a dirty blonde in ANH and ESB, but it's completely brown in ROTJ??? It ends up being as dark as Padme's hair. Did he dye it in between movies?

 

Lars-Muul, if I recall correctly, Anakin's hair was brownish-red in ROTS. It appears he went through a hair-dyeing stage as well...

He probably had his lighter hair in ANH because of the 2 suns on tattooine. Now that he is in space most of the time his natural color has grown out I guess..

Are you sure Luke's hair was darker in ROTJ? It still looked dark blonde to me, lighter than Leia's or Padme's. Perhaps his hair looked darker at times because there were a lot of dark enviornments in the film (i.e. Emperor's throne room, Jabba's dungeon) casting shadows. In the sunshine, Luke's hair seemed to be more illuminated. I didn't notice Anakin's hair being a different color in ROTS than AOTC either.
It looked like both Anakin and Luke had dirty blonde hair in the films, and both Padme and Leia had light brown hair.

 

My husband has brown hair. I have brown hair. Our daughters both have blond hair. How is this possible, you ask? My husband was blond when he was a child. My children will probably be brunettes when they get older.

 

Remember in TPM, Anakin was blond. Most blonds I know as they grow up, either turn dark blond or light brunette. And as someone else said, Luke grew up on Tatooine, with a lot of sun, so maybe it's just bleached by the sun. In fact, maybe 9 year old Anakin, who lived in the same environment as a young luke, has sun-bleached hair, and when they got older, their natural hair color came out.

Another thing, I have relatives who live in Colombia, a country on the equator. Most of the ones who are blond in Colombia, come to the US, and their hair gets darker. They blame it on the water here in the US

 

Anakin has dark blonde hair. In ROTJ i think they plastered Mark Hamill's hair down with hair spray which makes it darker.
Actually my dad has dark brown hair, my mom has dark hair, but my brother has light blonde hair, and i have dark blonde. Go figure.

 

My brother has very light, almost blond hair.
No one else in our family has anything but black or dark brown hair.

It's not impossible.

 

Maybe the midichlorians that created Anakin were blonde.

It's obvious. Padme had an affair, and in one of those strange coincidences, got pregnant to both men and had twins

Both of my parents have brown hair and I have always had blonde hair.Though my hair is getting darker as I get older so maybe some day I will have almost brown hair too...But as a child my hair was almost white.So yes it is possible,and besides didn't Anakin have blonde hair as a child?Maybe some of his earlier relatives had the blond hair gene and then it passed on to Luke?

 

It can happen I guess. Both of my parents and most of my siblings have brown eyes and dark brown hair, but I'm blond with blue eyes.

The force can do many things even make Luke a blonde.

 

Anakin's hair color and Luke's hair color are the same.
