hello my fellow star wars fan,

i like to know how i create a starfield for my fanfilm. are there any free apps or plugs (cinema 4d and/or after effects) to create a real looking space with thousands of thousands stars? please only apps for mac.

    thanks

ps: theforce.net goes finally to the dark site - at last they join us.

There is this plugin for After Effects and it also comes as a stand alone version. I never got it I just saw it the other day so I don't know if it is any good:

    In Photoshop:

    New Image
    Fill w/ black
    Edit>Fill
    Use: White
    Mode: Dissolve
    Opacity: 2%
    Filter>Blur>Gaussian Blur
    Blur Radius: 0.5

There's a crappy looking starfield if you can't find another alternative. :) :p

When you talk about star fields, do you mean just having them in a starship window or in a space battle type thing where the camera is moving about?

I suggest these tutorials, there great for space scenes.

There is also a plug in for photoshop/PSP... by flaming pear called Glitterato that makes awsome starfields. You can download the demo here.

...If you don't want to spend the money, you don't want a demo or the demo is over...

    Do it with photoshop/PSP...
Make noise, reduce the colors so that the image is greyscale and then choose the Edge enhance effect. It works though I don't use it.

I bet that the lightwave tutorial can be adapted to Cinema 4D... if you really know C4D decently, it shouldn't be hard to apply the same exact changes and such in it instead of Lightwave.

    Solutuon:

    1. Take your Mac and toss it out with the other trash.

    2. Buy a pc and 'poof' the programs work!
