are they good and what do they basically cover? I was in a hurry so I picked up what seemed to be the two most interesting ones.

Of those I've only read LoE, and it's great. It's set right before ROTS, basically sets the stage for it and concludes the Clone Wars mostly. :D

I hear the other book is also great, so I can say: Enjoy :D

I really wasn't keen on Dark Rendezvous to be honest. But LoE I loved that book it was such a great lead in to RotS.

I liked them both. Dark Rendezvous coveras a story featuring Yoda and two padawans late into the Clone Wars.

Dark Rendezvous features the final bits about the relationship between Dooku and Yoda, which was started in Legacy Of The Jedi and a couple of other eu stories. It's a really good story and worth reading. Labyrinth Of Evil takes us into ROTS, so by it's nature alone it is worth reading. However that aside, it is a good story.

I really enjoyed Dark Rendezvous for the backstory between Yoda/ Dooku and the plot centered around some solid new characters. It's about time Yoda got some quality lit dedicated to him, and there was plenty of levity (in otherwise dark times) which made the book alot of fun to read.

LoE really didn't do much for me - there really wasn't alot to work with due to the continuity constraints of that particularly delicate portion of the timeline. It wasn't bad, just too predictable IMHO.

I also liked LoE better than Dark Rendezvous. There was some good humor between Anakin and Obi in LoE that continued over into the RoTS novel.

LoE is my favourite Clone Wars era book. Dark Rendezvous is not bad, but not as good as LoE, IMO.

LOE was a good book for me, but I found that a lot of the reason was that it built on the earlier EU. It has references to Shatterpoint, Cestus Deception, Rogue Planet, Obsession, the Clone Wars game/show, Republic Commando, Brothers in Arms, Marvel, Dark Rendezvous, Cloak of Deception, and a lot of Republic issues. I feel that if you don't read those, you'll be left in the dark to a lot of the LOE backstory.

I got to agree with Two for legs, LOE is good if you keep up with all those clone wars stuff, but if you don't, you could get lost. DR was a decent book, but the portrayl of Dooku and Ventress I did not like. Then again the eu tends to change and alter cetrtain beahviors

I liked them both. Dark Rendezvous was a surprisingly enjoyable read; Dooku's characterization was spot-on.

I had a hard time getting into LoE but that was because I had just read a lot of the Luke era stuff. But if you're into Clone Wars then I highly recommend it. It's a brilliant set up for Revenge of the Sith and while to some extent you do know what will happen, you also get great explaination of the events the start ROTS and also some character insight into Dooku and GG.

IMO, LoE was a pretty entertaining tie-in to ROTS, but not much more. I prefer the Clone Wars microseries.

Dark Rendezvous, on the other hand, was wonderful. I've be a bigger EU fan if more books were like this.

In my experience, people either absolutely love or absolutely hate Dark Rendezvous. It's that kind of book.

It's much more accessible to a first time reader than Labyrinth of Evil, which I also adore but which tries to be a good history/tying-things-together book as well as a novel.

Where is Ex? What's keeping him?

Dark Rendezvous has to be one of the better EU novels along with LOE. What I love about SW is when they show ordinary things.

In DR it's airports, particularly relevent in this day and age. In LOE Obi-Wan and Ani...well I won't spoil it for you but it's a lot of fun. [face_whistling]

I've yet to read DR, but LOE was solid- Luceno really captures the feel of the movies, and some of the plot threads really help tie the prequel trilogy and era together into a more cohesive whole, even granting some greater relevance to the otherwise-detached events of TPM to the saga.

There's nothing I can comment until the book is read. Sy Snootle kisses to the fool editor who showed horrific spoilers on Malazan book backcovers of past book events.
