I checked GameFAQs and GameBanshee and fond no discussion of this bug, which occured last night.

I'm playing KotOR on my second run-through playing an evil Scoundrel 9/Consular 10. My NPCs are all level 16-17 at this point...not sure why but they seem slightly behind. Anyway, I completed the Leviathan and went to the planet with the last Star Map, for me...Kashyyyk. I had done it significantly earlier in the last game, but at this point in my second game I had not visited before. So, I obviously had to leave Zaalbar (level 16 Scout) behind with his brother and I was looking forward to trying the Dark Side solution to this whole mess.

I went down to the Shadowlands, killed the last GenoHaradan, picked up the Droid Head, and got Jolee in the party. (It was certainly fun developing him in one shot from level 6 to level 17!) Then, I decided to leave the planet and finish the GenoHaradan quest. I left Kashyyyk, finishing the Droid Head quest as I did so, and went to Manaan, leaving Zaalbar behind. At first, there was no problem. I flew to Manaan, spoke to Hulas, and he challenged me to the duel on the Dune Sea. I flew from Manaan to Tatooine and was attacked by Sith fighters along the way. I landed on Tatooine...and things got weird.

After the landing scene, my character appeared on the Ebon Hawk...but he was also in a party. This, obviously, is not supposed to happen. Moreover, I was in a party with one other individual...Zaalbar! Except it was Zaalbar as a level 14 Scout! (He immediately recieved the "Level Up" icon.) At this point, I was sufficently freaked out (plus it was late) that I didn't explore the glitch as much as I might have. Zaalbar and I were standing in the middle of the ship, and surrounding us were the NPCs, much like in the scene when Revan's identity is revealed. I didn't try talking to them. I did go into Solo Mode and explore the ship (it was still as if I was in normal play...no map of the ship or anything). I didn't check out everything, but there was a swoop in BOTH the cargo hold and the swoop hangar, and one of them was accompanied by a "Swoop Maintenance Droid" that looks like a brown T3. When I spoke to it, it didn't go into a video scene like normal but in voice and text it responded something like "I cannot tell you about this planet master, I am sorry." I didn't check out the bridge (perhaps the "Galaxy Droid" bug was also in effect?) but then exited the ship. Level 14 Zaalbar followed me out. I went to the "Party Selection" screen and discovered that I still had a Level 16 Zaalbar "greyed out" in the clutches of his brother, and the level 14 Zaalbar had REPLACED T3's portrait! (Poor little guy!) At this point I was freaked enough to go to my last save point...which, fortunately, was back on Kashyyyk in front of Jolee's hut. (I had a bad feeling aboout leaving without Zaalbar...guess I was right.)

So, if braver hearts than I want to explore this bug, go right ahead. I'm curious as to why they recorded a voice for this strange droid, and why I gained an extra swoop. I'm just glad I decided not to save off Kashyyyk, because this sounds like a recipe for gamebreaker glitches. (Bringing Zaalbar to rescue Zaalbar comes to mind. I knew you could duplicate his equipment this way, but this is ridiculous!)

I know this sounds very strange, but I swear it's true. I don't think it is unique to my game, so...DON'T LEAVE ZAALBAR ON KASHYYYK! Unless, of course, you want to see what else can be done with this exceedingly weird bug.

EV Edit: That is a very strange glitch. If I wasn't too lazy I'd go check it out myself. But in the meantime please use the KOTOR Bug thread

I feel like putting this bug to the test, but KOTOR is too hard of a game to breeze through like KOTOR 2.

If you visited Kashyyyk first, it would be easy enough to test. Just drop off Zaalbar and go for a cruise.

Of course, it might only occur after the Leviathan, in which case...

Of course, I've only had the game a month and am about to beat it for the second time. Does that count as "breezing through?" ;)
