the yuuzhan vong were "stripped of the force" by their original planet due to their aweful behavoir. How is this possible?

It's happened before, mate. Both Callista and Ulic Qel-Droma were "stripped" or the Force so they could no longer use it and no longer be sensed in it.

A powerful Force User cuts off your access to the Force, leaving you with only enough to live.

I have no idea. I don't get anything that authors come up with thats anti force...

I just ignore those parts and move on with the book...

(Although I kind of get the vong being stripped when they turned evil and worshiped random gods kind of like in the bible when gods sends the jews out into the dessert after they make false god icons right after he saves them (Exdus))

Essentially, it seems to block the links between the wellspring of the Force and a Force sensitive.

While it can't cut this off on all planes - thus Callista could touch the Force through the Dark Side, and without the Force on all levels you'd die - it effectively blocks your access.

Omini regained it by grafting yammosk cells to his brain, who acted on a telepathic level.

Callista and Jacen used the Dark Side.

Jerec, Ulic and others were cut-off from the Force completely in that aspect, but were dark-siders, so it was pretty permanent, though Ulic turned into a Force Ghost, after all that.

So...it doesn't work, always. It can, but its case-dependant.

It seems to close off the avenue you're currently using, nonetheless. Thus Callista and Jacen regained access by way of the dark, and started off light.

Ulic ragained access by way of the Light, and was dark.

The Yuuzhan Vong were stripped from their 'wavelength' utterly, though they still existed somewhere in the Force - Vongsense.

In theory, yes. In practice, Luke may have been simply too strong, and had too vast a natural Force Potential for Palpatine to suppress.

Vergere was obviously vastly more powerful than Jacen.

oh it kind of makes sense now. This is why some Jedi try to convert sith back to the light and others they simply have to kill because their too powerful

I always though that after Jacen was stripped it just didn't reactivate, vergweere gave it back to him. Am I wrong in thinking that?

No, Vergere stripped him of concious force acess, but he could still access it through his Empathy, which linked to the YV slave seed. And when she betrayed him in the Force Well basen, he felt such rage that he used his internal force to brake out of the containment and reconect with the force proper.

Its one of my explinations why Jacens palms were charred after his Berzerker rage lightning freakout

There's been alot of discussion of this at TOS in the Force Philosophy thread... some talk of there being sort of a mental switch that's turned off you know? The YV, on the other hand, they were barred from the Force in some kinda crazy way. And the idea was introduced as a punishment for Ulic Qel-Droma's stint as a Sith Lord. Callista wasn't exactly stripped I guess, because that seems more like a punishment, but it seems when she took over Cray Mingla(that's who it was right)'s body it flipped Cray's mental switch at least partially off. I'm not so sure that Jacen was ever "stripped" of the Force in the same way that Ulic or the YV were... rather I think Vergere was doing something slightly different there.

The Midichlorians are microscopic life forms that apparently, give people and other things "The Force". A Jedi has enough midichlorians that he can essentially touch them, "talk" to them, work with them.

"When you learn to quiet your mind enough, they will talk to you, too." - Paraphrased from Qui-Gon

Perhaps in the case of Ulic and other force users that were stripped of the force, the ability to quiet one's mind to listen to the midichlorians was taken away. In the Vong, something different must have happened....like the force getting so angry about having to live in such a depraved being that the midichlorians simply shut up completely.

    Why not?

Analyse it technically. It's such a breezy thing to say, "Force stripping," is it not? What does that mean? How is it done? So lets say you are prevented from Forcing. You can't psychically touch it. Is it any different from stun bolted? Your muscles are zapped, your body doesn't move.

So to stripping. It's a technique, like checkmating Havac in chess or killing lots of Gands in the Jekk Jekk Tar bar who, incidentally, just stand there clueless. You know how to do it, you can do it. You just can't switch yourself back on.

Sekot is a setient planet. Why should that be implausable? I draw the line at creduality where big hyperdrives stuck up its rump; I'd rather have seen an unexplained but natural means of movement. And if computers have setience---by Isard's size 8 pants, we've sen a freight lifts having setience several times!---well, why not an organic planet?

I always thought the force-stripping technique was a) dependent on how powerful you were vs the person you were force-stripping (wow, that sounds filthy) but more importantly, b) a technique not available to everyone - not known by everyone. Maybe as unique as sensing Shatterpoints, perhaps just long-forgotten like Battle Meditation. Either way, obscure.

Nomi Sunrider could do it. Apparently Vergere could do it. Being the son of the Chosen One, Luke could probably learn. But I'm not sure everyone could.

Though I like the idea of Mara force-stripping Jacen as proof that she's descended from the Sunriders... (Twee, perhaps, having everyone descended from everyone else, but it was thousands of years ago, and hey, I like it...)

I wouldnt say Jacen was stripped, but more "smothered", like the twins were in the best book of all time, The Crystal Star.

Ah, but you have to think like Sid:

He can strip Luke of the Force, but the Force heightens sensation, awareness, so why remove that when he's going to slowly fry the cocky little bastard?

Remember, Sid's an evil and sadistic git.

    Can you learn this power?

Not from anyone who isn't Kyle Katarn. And Kyle doesn't even need it.

Though there are some rumors that Kyle's technique is merely a refinement of a form developed by Mace Windu, those rumormongers soon died of Byrar-pistol-related injuries.

Kyle doesn't actually use it. When Kyle walks into a room with other force sensitives, they look so feeble compared to him it just APPEARS they have been stripped of the force.

Not it was obscure knowledge taught to her by Odan-Urr...he must have had an impression that it would be necessary for her to use it. The other Jedi were shocked at her using this ability.

Negative. She was taught Battle Meditation by Master Arca, and the force stripping technique by Odan Urr (Or whatever his name was that created the library at Ossus)

I always thought that Vergere simply put Jacen on another "frequency" of the Force. The same for everybody else.

Because the force is still there, his midichlorians are still there, and so is all of his training. You can't just take away something like that, ya know. They just existed on a different plane of the force that Jacen, Callista, ect didn't understand.

Didn't Master Urr say something along the lines of the reason he could teach it to her was because she had learned the battle meditation ability? I may just be imagining that; it's been a while since reading those TotJ GNs.

Holy Sith, we have a lengthy thread about being cut off from the Force and nobody has mentioned the Exile yet.

I do like the frequencies theory, it explains a lot and provides an interesting analogy between the Force and conventional senses. Using her bond with the Exile, Kreia simply readjusted her to a new frequency after the Exile unconsciously closed the old one to prevent permanent damage, possibly including death, from Force overexposure at Malachor.
